Celebrating Success:
We are thrilled to share some exciting news that speaks volumes about the resilience and vibrancy of our OLLI community. Several of our OLLI classes have officially sold out, and, what's even more remarkable, our in-person registrations have climbed to over 70% of total registrations! This achievement is a testament to your unwavering dedication to lifelong learning and the unique sense of camaraderie that defines OLLI Emory.

As we witness this surge in, in-person attendance, it's heartening to see our community slowly returning to pre-COVID levels. Your preference for in-person interactions is clear, and we are delighted to facilitate this return to the enriching, face-to-face experiences that make OLLI Emory truly special. Hyflex and online learning is still available for applicable courses and where registrations justify us running the platform. It's not disappearing, so no worries for those of you that take advantage of online learning.

We understand that the social aspect of our program is one of the most enjoyable and important factors for many of you. The connections formed in our classrooms, the shared discussions, and the camaraderie that accompanies in-person interactions are an integral part of the OLLI experience. We are excited to see the resurgence of these meaningful connections and the joy they bring to our community.

We look forward to seeing you around OLLI at Emory!
Uncle Billy’s Return to Atlanta: The Southern Tour of General William T Sherman in 1879
Instructor:
 Michael McDavid
Wed. January 17, 2024 - 1:00PM - 2:30PM
In 1864 in the celebrated – or infamous – March to the Sea, Union General William T Sherman left Atlanta a smoking ruin, devoid of population. By 1879 the city was well into recovery mode as a transportation and economic hub of the South. That year Sherman, as Commanding General of the US Army, undertook a tour of military installations in southern states, including Atlanta. In this one-session course we will look at the events of the tour, especially the general’s reception in Atlanta. We will also consider the long-term impact of the March to the Sea and Sherman’s eventual demonization among many Southerners.

Registering for courses
Registration is closed for courses that start this week, but we still have a few other courses listed below that are open for registration.  We reimplemented our registration deadline, due to, too many students waiting until the last minute to register. Staff isn't able to take registration calls while running classes.

We are diligently working on our spring session, so stay tuned!
