Crafters Bee and Social Scheduled at Former Governors' Mansion State Historic Site

BISMARCK, N.D. – The annual Crafters Bee and Social will be held at the Former Governors’ Mansion State Historic Site located at 320 E. Ave. B in Bismarck on Saturday, Jan. 27, from 1 to 4 p.m. Crafters and artists are invited to spend the afternoon working on their favorite projects and socializing. Bring your extra yarn, sewing needles, patterns, etc., to barter, give away or beg for someone to take them away. Beginners and the curious are welcome. Coffee, tea, and treats will be served. Chairs and tables will be available.

The mansion will also be open to the general public during this time for touring the site. The site consists of a two-and-one-half story restored Victorian house and a restored 1903 carriage house. Built in 1884, the mansion housed 20 chief executives of North Dakota between 1893 and 1960. Unique exhibits feature the restoration process, architectural style changes, and furniture used by several governors.

The Former Governors’ Mansion is a state historic site managed by the State Historical Society of North Dakota. The site is open year-round. Winter hours, now in place through May 15, are the second combined Friday and Saturday of each month from 1 to 5 p.m. Groups are welcome to schedule visits outside of regular open hours by calling 701.328.9528 or emailing jcampbell@nd.gov. Admission is free. Find additional upcoming educational programs sponsored by the State Historical Society at history.nd.gov/events.
