Dhammananda Bhikkhuni

In 1985, Dhammananda Bhikkhuni initiated Buddhist Perspectives on Nature, uncovering eco-teachings in texts from the time of the Buddha. After establishing a temple, she implemented a waste management program, starting with recycling and creatively weaving rugs from recycled materials. Now, facing climate challenges, she advocates for collective responsibility, urging temples to join the global effort in combating environmental degradation through recycling.

Making Life Meaningful through Awareness of Death

Dhammananda Bhikkhuni delves into the profound theme of life and death in Buddhism, urging us to embrace death as a natural part of life. She stresses that recognizing impermanence from the start not only helps us face death with tranquility, but makes life much more meaningful. She also looks at shifts in Thai funeral practices, especially at the tradition of publishing Dharma books as a way of creating positive potential for the deceased.
