View this email in your browser

This year we are combining our renowned Lake County Restaurant Week and Libation Trail initiatives into one taste-tempting, month-long event: February Flavor Festival.

From February 1-29, this is our chance to showcase all the individual operators who offer fun, unique dining and drinking destinations for visitors and residents. Supporting our hospitality partners in Lake County is our highest priority.

The monthlong foodie frenzy is a multi-platform campaign highlighting Lake County restaurants, breweries, distilleries and wineries with exclusive dining offers, food and drink pairings, chef demonstrations, inspiring libation concoctions, live entertainment and other fun promotions to attract new guests.

To be included in all Lake County Flavor Fest print marketing, return this form and your special menu or offer details (click here to download) to us by Wedneday, January 17. Contact VLC Community Outreach & Programs Director John Maguire or Community Engagement Specialist Hazel Gayheart.

Three Long-Serving Forest Preserve Directors Retire

The Lake County Forest Preserve District (LCFPD) bids farewell to a trio of directors with over a century of service: LCFPD's Director of Education Nan Buckardt, Director of  Planning and Land Preservation Randy Seebach and Chief Operations Officer Mike Tully.

Buckardt was pivotal in changing the location of the Lake County Discovery Museum at Lakewood Forest Preserve to the present-day Dunn Museum in Libertyville. The 39-year tenured LCFPD educator created the Dunn Museum collections while overseeing 1.5 million visitors in their natural and human history programs. Her impact on the organization earned her recognition from the Illinois Conservation Foundation board of directors, who inducted her into the Illinois Outdoor Hall of Fame.

Seebach played a crucial role in shaping the Lake County landscape. During his 38-year tenure, he oversaw 153 miles of trails and 40 master plans, including 19,000 acres of LCFPD land.

Tully stepped down in July after 32 years, leaving a legacy of unwavering commitment to public safety and pristine trails that enriched countless lives. The COO was a tireless advocate for the Lake County Forest Preserves and wore many hats at local, state, and national organizations, helping to nurture healthier ecosystems, foster safer communities, and build a more resilient future for Lake County.

Congratulations to the environmentally innovative triad, and the best of luck to them in their future endeavors.
