Dear parents,
Following “Winter Storm Finn” last week, we have received a “Decree of Amnesty” and will not need to make up the missed school day from January 9th. Per the letter, this is due to the severity of the storm, the Governor declaring a state of emergency, and, even after missing school, Assumption Catholic School still meets the minimum number of instructional hours and minutes required by the state of Florida.
The Playground Blessing has been rescheduled to next Tuesday, January 23rd at 10:00. We have opened the playground to the students as they have been very patiently waiting. They are already having a wonderful time enjoying the new equipment. We are excited to begin plans for Phase Two of the project, which is the sports court and outdoor classroom spaces.
Currently, we have received 123 applications for next school year. In comparison, last year at this time we had 57 applications on file. Enrollment for next year is full in Kindergarten. Re-enrollment for returning students will run from February 2nd to February 16th. New student acceptance will begin shortly after re-enrollment. We expect a limited number of spots to be available for new students. Thank you for continuing to spread the good word about Assumption as “word of mouth” is our most effective form of advertisement.
Please see below for the Catholic Schools Week schedule. We have been assigned cereal and are expected to collect at least 560 boxes of cereal. More directions will come out next week regarding Grandparent’s Day.
Thank you and God bless,
Maryann Jimenez
