A Profile of a Hoosier Freemason

Several appendant and concordant bodies branch off of Craft Freemasonry (the three degrees presented in a Masonic Lodge.) Over the next messages, we will present videos from a number of these organizations.

This video was produced by the Scottish Rite Northern Masonic Jurisdiction.  This organization presents several "additional" degrees after the three Masonic degrees. This includes the "Illustrious" thirty-third degree, which is an honorary degree bestowed for meritorious service to craft masonry. However, there is no greater honor than receiving the "Sublime" degree of a Master Mason (i.e., the third and "final" degree.)

Ill. Sammy Lee Davis, 33°, Medal of Honor Recipient Interview

The Northern Light, a publication of the Scottish Rite Northern Masonic Jurisdiction, on Air brings you a story of bravery and heroism in the Vietnam War by our Brother Sammy Lee Davis.

Sammy Lee Davis is an Indiana Mason from Union Village Lodge No. 545. From a young age, he embodied many of the tenants of the Masonic Fraternity even though not petitioning for membership until later in life. The three principal tenants of Masonry are Brother Love, Relief, and Truth. These are the principal tenets of Freemasonry. Derived from these tenets are the virtues of faith, hope, and charity – all supported by the three great pillars of wisdom, strength, and beauty.

Please take a moment to watch this video of an exceptional man who found the exceptional values of Freemasonry to be a worthwhile journey.
