January Program: Inclusive Event Planning with the Nationally-Renowned Jove Meyer

Jove Meyer, an expert in design and event planning, brings his infectious energy to the stage, forging deep connections with his audience. As a queer individual who grew up in a conservative environment and launched his career in the heart of New York's wedding industry, Jove is a fervent LGBTQIA+ advocate. He passionately guides his audience toward becoming more inclusive wedding professionals. Here's what Jove has to say about this exciting event!
Can you share a brief overview of what attendees can expect from your upcoming presentation at our January program, "Love is Love; How to be an Inclusive Wedding Professional"?
"Love is love means we all get to celebrate it equally and joyfully, unfortunately, the wedding industry has some work to do to make LGBTQ+ couples feel welcome, included, and equal. For far too long we have been a bride-centric industry, all about the bride bride bride, but not all weddings have a bride and the ones that do also have another partner that should be involved and included too! You can expect to learn the ABCs of LGBTQIAP+, tips and stats on working with queer couples, and an overall kick in the butt to rejuvenate your business to re-think how you plan weddings for couples in love, to get away from assuming and auto-pilot to creating custom celebrations that reflect your coupes love stories, styles, and personalities!"
Without giving too much away, what are a few key takeaways or actionable tips that attendees can expect to gain from your presentation?
"We will do website audits to help share quick and easy ways to make your company more inclusive and attractive to all couples! We will walk you through what LGBTQIAP means and what it has to do with you, and help give you the tools to be an ally and or inclusive wedding vendor! This will come with heart, humor, facts and a lot of fun!"

Minnesota Star Awards Submissions Now Open!
|

In case you missed it, we're going back to school for the 20th Annual Minnesota Star Awards! On Friday, March 29, 2024, McNamara Alumni Center will be hosting event pros from across the industry for a night of nostalgic shenanigans. During the evening, we'll celebrate with an awards ceremony honoring the best work produced by local talent. Award submissions are NOW OPEN and we can't wait to hear about your best events from 2023.
Anyone who has produced events (or components of events) within the region represented by the ILEA Minneapolis-St. Paul Chapter OR who works in this region, but produces events in other locations is eligible to enter. ILEA membership is not a requirement to enter most categories, with the exception of the ILEA Team Effort Award honoring ILEA members' joint efforts in an event. Early bird pricing for entries is valid through Monday, January 22nd, so don't miss your chance to show off your work!
