"Get Out in the Snow" at Fort Mandan State Historic Site

WASHBURN, N.D. – The public is invited to "Get Out in the Snow" Jan. 22-27 at Fort Mandan State Historic Site near Washburn. This event features free snowshoe rentals at the Lewis & Clark Interpretive Center during regular business hours.

After strapping on your snowshoes, adventure through the trails among the towering cottonwoods along the Missouri River at Fort Mandan. If adequate snow has not fallen for snowshoeing, trails will be open for hiking. Check in at the Lewis & Clark Interpretive Center to get more information on the hiking trails at Fort Mandan.

All ages are welcome; children must be accompanied by an adult. Pre-registration is not required. Participants are expected to dress accordingly for the temperature.  

For more information, contact Ashli Laducer at 701.462.8535. The Lewis & Clark Interpretive Center and Fort Mandan State Historic Site are managed by the State Historical Society of North Dakota. The Interpretive Center is open Monday-Saturday, 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Fort Mandan State Historic Site is open for guided tours that leave the Interpretive Center.
