Gather Mid-semester Student Feedback with a FACT

Request by February 16

Are you interested in gathering student mid-semester feedback to improve your course this semester, rather than waiting for course evaluations at the end of the semester? Would you like to foster rapport with your students?

Through the Formative Assessment of Classroom Teaching (FACT) program, trained consultants facilitate guided discussions with your students and then share their anonymous feedback with you. This is available for both face-to-face and online classes (via Zoom or asynchronously).

Celebration of Teaching & Learning Symposium

Wednesday, February 14, 9 am - 2:30 pm | UC East

You are invited to join us at the 8th annual Celebration of Teaching & Learning Symposium. View the agenda and abstract booklet to plan your day. You are welcome to attend as your schedule permits.
  • Come spark ideas and support your colleagues by attending any of the 22 lightning, standard, and poster presentations by colleagues from USI and regional institutions across many disciplines.
  • The luncheon and keynote "Clicking into Place: Harnessing Learning Data for Practical Classroom Improvement" will be presented by Dr. Benjamin Motz (Indiana University).
Register by February 12 to enter the door prize drawing.

Open Class Celebration: Faculty Visiting Faculty

February 19-23 | Sign up to open your class by February 8

Would you like to invite faculty colleagues to visit your classroom or synchronous online class - to demonstrate your teaching strategies? Sign up to host an Open Class Visit and choose a date during February 19-23. The form requests brief information about the class you are opening: the date/time, class topic, instructional strategy or class context, and visitor capacity.

A schedule of classes open to faculty visitors will be available on February 9.
This program is part of CETL's initiative to Make Teaching and Learning Visible.

LEAP Indiana Spring Faculty Forums on AI

LEAP Indiana presents faculty forums for colleagues around the state to collaborate and discuss current events impacting higher education.  In the spring, we will focus on Artificial Intelligence (AI) as it pertains to teaching.  Facilitators will share some brief information at the start of the hour prior to participants entering disciplinary-based break-out rooms for discussion and sharing ideas.

AI for Beginners

Monday, February 19 at 1 pm CT | Register in advance

Artificial intelligence (AI) has hit the world incredibly fast, going from a seeming sci-fi fantasy to real world applications within a matter of months. While AI has been in development, and use, for years, it took a giant leap forward in November of 2022 with OpenAI’s release of ChatGPT to the public. This session will introduce the basics of AI, give an overview of what it can, and cannot, do, and provide some practical suggestions for working with AI in the classroom. Greg Lutz from Marian University will be presenting.

After registering, you will receive a confirmation email with information about joining the meeting.
