Important Notice: Inaccurate Information sent from East Midlands Team 19th January 2024 - No mandatory clinical audit for 23/24

On 19th January 2024, the East Midlands Primary Care Team – Pharmacy, Optometry and Dental Team, sent an email entitled 'Annual Returns for 2023-2024’

The email was incorrect as there is NO mandatory clinical audit this year.

For further information, please refer to this link from Community Pharmacy England

Following LPC contact, a clarification email was sent by the East Midlands Team late on Tuesday afternoon, the contents of which are shown below (click on 'the attached letter' to open the attachment sent with the email):

Dear Colleague

The East Midlands Primary Care Team wrote to the pharmacy on the 18 January 2024 to outline the requirements for the annual returns for 2023-2024. However, we have been informed by the LPC that the previous letter contained errors in regard to the dates and the evidence required for this year.

Community Pharmacy England (CPE) have confirmed that there is no requirement to complete a pharmacy based clinical audit for 2023-2024.  However, there is still a requirement to submit a complaints report for this year.  A template and a link to the CPE complaints page are included within the attached letter.  The Team would encourage you to use this template as it provides the pharmacy with guidance on what information is required within the report.  Please still complete the report if you have had zero complaints as the team will continue to contact the pharmacy until we have had a return.

The complaints report requires completion by 31 March 2024, however, does not need to be submitted to the team until 30 April 2024.  This should be sent to our generic email inbox  england.eastmidspharmacy@nhs.net.  Please ensure that you send the returns from the pharmacy specific email address so that we can identify your pharmacy easily. More details on the complaints report can be found within the letter.

The team apologise for the previous errors and the distress this may have caused your pharmacy,  should you need any further guidance or information please do not hesitate to contact the team on england.eastmidspharmacy@nhs.net.

Kind Regards
