Stay informed about snow closures
Weather-related campus closures are communicated to the UTM community through multiple channels. All current members of the university community are automatically subscribed to the UTAlert system using their official U of T email address. UTAlert allows the University to send important messages via email, SMS text and mobile app notifications. Faculty, staff and librarians are encouraged to add a cell number to receive text notifications and download the Alertable app to get notifications about snow closures, safety messages and more. Click here for more information about U of T’s alert system. Weather-related closures are also communicated through UTM's social media accounts, including X (Twitter), Instagram and Facebook. Details are also shared on the Campus Status page.

In Memoriam
UTM is mourning the passing of Professor Hugh Gunz, who died on Jan. 17. A world-class scholar and innovative leader, Gunz mentored dozens of faculty and staff, developed new academic programs and was instrumental in shaping UTM’s department of management, the Institute for Management & Innovation (IMI) and U of T’s Rotman School of Management. Gunz was a gifted researcher, focused on human resource management, career and management education, and organizational design. He served the University in various administrative capacities including chair of the department of management, associate dean, programs at Rotman and inaugural director at IMI.
He also served on many Governing Council bodies, including Academic Board. First elected to Governing Council in 2011, he was appointed to UTM Campus Council in 2013, its inaugural year of operations, and served as chair from 2015-2017. Gunz’s warm and welcoming approach to leadership played a significant role in fostering the careers of staff, faculty and students across the University.
