On Friday, February 23, please join us at Manatee County’s Neighborhood Summit for a day of collaboration, innovation, and community empowerment. This free one-day event is a civic engagement opportunity designed to bring together neighborhood leaders, volunteers, and community partners to connect, build networks with fellow neighborhood associations, and celebrate the work that’s been done throughout the community. Local leaders will present topics relative to natural environment, sports & leisure, cultural opportunity, and grant opportunities. Don’t miss this opportunity to connect with neighbors and be inspired and motivated by the efforts of your local community.

Manatee County Commissioner George Kruse will host a Town Hall this month at our Lakewood Ranch Library. Town Halls allow Manatee County residents to join Commissioners for discussion and Q&A on topics related to the county. No registration is required!

Offered with Parenting Matters at four Manatee Library locations, Musical Motion is a fun parent-child learn & play class that encourages bonding while developing early learning and literacy skills in children. Sessions focus on creative activities that enhance brain development and build preschoolers' social skills, language skills, motor skills, and more.

The Florida Department of Elder Affairs and the Alzheimer’s Association have partnered to create the ALZ STARS program, a joint initiative to bring increased awareness of dementia and the resources available to Floridians. To learn more about the program and how to join click here.

The Friendship Dining Program is for people over 60 who would like to make new friends, participate in fun activities, and hear from local experts on a variety of topics as well as enjoy a nutritious meal. Friendship Dining Centers are conveniently located in East and West Manatee County. In some instances, transportation can be provided.

All Friendship Dining Center clients receive a daily meal, providing one-third of the Recommended Daily Allowance (RDA), and are approved by a registered dietitian.

Scholarships may be available. Please call (941) 747-4655 for more information.

Participants enjoy the following services provided at these centers:

  • Activities including films, art, and music

  • Holiday celebrations

  • Card games, bingo, creative projects, and more

Join us to hear about innovative prevention programs being offered in Manatee County schools. Student, family and school perspectives will be offered on how these programs can help.

If you are trained in hands-only cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), you can help when someone in a nearby public place suffers sudden cardiac arrest. Download the Pulsepoint free mobile app to receive alerts from Manatee County Emergency Communications Center operators at the same time they dispatch first responders to the scene. You can also use the app to register an automated external defibrillator (AED).
