Summer Food Service Program Sponsors Sought in Targeted Areas

The Idaho Department of Education is seeking sponsors for this year’s Summer Food Service Program (SFSP). Sponsors are sought all across the state, especially in rural areas where coverage gaps exist. The department is partnering with the Idaho Hunger Relief Task Force to increase awareness and recruitment. Areas of need include:

Region 1:

Region 2:
• The only SFSP sponsors in Region 2 are in Lewiston, Lapwai, Moscow and Grangeville.

Region 3:
• Only the Boise and West Ada school districts, as well as the Boys and Girls Club of Ada County currently cover Ada County.

Region 6:
• SFSP does not have sponsors in Custer and Teton counties and only one in Lemhi County.

Application information will be provided to eligible sponsors and is due to the Idaho Department of Education by April 26. Department approval is required prior to program operation. Clean School Bus Rebate Program Deadline Extended

The EPA is extending the 2023 rebate application window to be responsive to stakeholder feedback, including that additional time would be helpful in order to appropriately engage with partners like utilities and school boards ahead of submitting an application. All applications for the 2023 CSB Rebate Program must now be submitted by 2 p.m. MST on February 14

The EPA is offering at least $500 million for electric, propane and compressed natural gas school buses through the 2023 Clean School Bus Rebate Program. FEMA Seeks Leaders for Youth Preparedness Council

FEMA has opened applications for its Youth Preparedness Council, a program bringing teens together from across the nation who are interested and engaged in community preparedness. Students in grades eight through 11 living in FEMA Region 10 (Alaska, Idaho, Oregon, and Washington), may be invited to join the FEMA Region 10 YPC, a similar council that focuses specifically on creating projects within these four states. This is a great opportunity for students to share their ideas and feedback with FEMA, improve their leadership skills and develop preparedness projects.

Youth interested in applying to the council must submit a completed application form and provide two letters of recommendation. All applications and supporting materials must be submitted no later than March 4. New council members will be announced by June 2024.

To access the application materials, read about the current council members or for more information about the Youth Preparedness Council, visit the Youth Preparedness Council page at the button below:
