We anticipate 2024 to be an exciting year for Include a Charity and the Gifts in Wills sector.

We have big plans, with new events every month including webinars, training days, and of course our annual IAC Week and One Day Conference.

There are also some fabulous research pieces in the mix and development of partnerships, government advocacy and legal sector collaboration.

We’ll also be visiting every state this year, either for our NEW state check-ins or as part of the IAC Roadshow in September. Be sure to mark these dates in your calendar so you don’t miss out.

Welcome to IAC’s Content Corner, where we share news stories and initiatives relevant to the world of Gifts in Wills.

This week ‘s story is from Today’s Wills and Probate, “Vulnerable elders: A harrowing story and the lessons which need to be learnt”. This story concerns an elderly man who was isolated from his family after marrying a new partner, and brings to light some important questions regarding vulnerable elders and Powers of Attorney.

2024 Fundraising Conference

Over seven hundred people have already registered for the 2024 FIA Conference, and it’s easy to see why. The Fundraising Conference is an integral part of FIA’s annual professional development education program and remains the largest gathering of fundraisers in the southern hemisphere.

Each year the conference program is designed to ensure that fundraisers get exposure of both core and up-to-date fundraising techniques, disciplines, trends and ideas. This year is no different — we’ve got a packed schedule of masterclasses, guest speakers and networking events lined up which you don’t want to miss.

The 2024 Conference will be held in Brisbane from 28 February – 1 March. Registrations are open now, and you can visit the website for more details and to see the full program.

Benchmarking survey is now open

Include a Charity needs you.

Now in its ninth year, Include a Charity benchmarking provides vital information and data to support the fundraising programs of our members and the charity sector. It also delivers a baseline to advocate for change with the government and other stakeholders.

Data collection is crucial for supporting our work and to continue to build the message of leaving a charitable gift in Will to the Australian public.

This year is extra special as we are collaborating with The Benchmarking Project and combining the annual report data collected by More Strategic to create a ‘single source of truth’ in Gifts in Wills benchmarking at this time.

We will also run a joint presentation mid-year this year to look at the collective insights.

We are making it easy once again by asking for a minimum of 3 data points.

  • Gifts in Wills revenue

  • The breakdown of residual and other types of gifts

  • Gifts in Wills pipeline metrics

In addition, we are sending out the survey to Include a Charity and non-Include a Charity members to obtain the fullest picture possible.

Why participate?

Everyone who completes their data and provides contact details will be provided a de-identified general report. We will send a more detailed report with specifics for Include a Charity members, and an option to pay a subscription fee for the full report for non-members. There will also be opt-in permissions to share your organisation’s details to other participants in the survey.

We will also use the findings for further analysis, reporting and marketing later in the year.

We are collecting FY22/23 data, or if your organisation uses a calendar year then please interpret it as 2022. If you did not raise any money or do not know please add a 0 as it is still important data to collect.

The survey should only take about 10 minutes, or faster still if you have the data readily available.

We look forward to making results available in April, 2024. Deadline for completion is March 1.
