Hi,
Happy New Year to everyone.
Three topics this time:-
A) Cart Barn, Pyrford Road
B) Pyrford Little Theatre (PLT) Pantomime this month
C) Pyrford Road closure
A) CART BARN PYRFORD ROAD
In November’s Heritage Newsletter, we referred to the Cart Barn adjacent to Lees Farm Cottages, Pyrford Road.
It is believed to have existed on the site since the 18th century and features on the 1841 Tithe map.
Although the building itself is not explicitly listed, it is within the curtilage of listed buildings and so has the protection of listed building legislation.
We were therefore concerned, this week, to see tiles being removed from the roof in what could have been the start of the removal of the building.
Thankfully, a senior planning enforcement officer from Woking Borough Council was able to visit the site the same day.
He confirmed that listed building consent would be required for any further work and will continue to monitor the situation.
The Pyrford Neighbourhood Forum works to protect our local environment, including its heritage and nature.
B) PLT PANTOMIME
PLT are organising a pantomime this month.
As their press release says
“Happy New Year, me hearties! Join us all for our pantomime, "Treasure Island".
The ship be preparing to sail, so come and join the fun, whether you be a pirate or just want to buckle your swash. Yarrrr!”
Tickets are still available. You can book tickets

Pyrford Road has been closed in both directions between Boltons Lane and Ridgway for Thames Water to carry out surface water repair & maintenance works.
