Introducing the Book Harvest Parent Advisory Board!

A Message from Our School and Family Engagement Team

Families,

The School and Family Engagement team is excited to announce the formation of our inaugural Parent Advisory Committee. We are seeking Book Harvest-connected parents who are interested in sharing their thoughts, feedback, and ideas as well as being a voice for themselves and others as we dream together about what is possible, working alongside one another in service to & support of families.

Our goal is to convene a group of PreK - 5th grade parents (moms, dads, grandparents—anyone who is raising a child) four times a year to discuss & plan for how Book Harvest can support school-age children and families in literacy-connected ways. We would like to have a group of seven parents who represent the wide diversity of our city and of the families in it.

So, if you are a current or former Book Babies participant who has a child in school, if you are a parent who has attended an event, visited our family space, spoke to a member of our staff at a school or community event, selected books from shelves at a laundromat, waiting room, or a Book Box, or connected to us in some way, and you have lived in Durham for at least three years, you’re who we’re looking for to have these conversations with to help shape opportunities for yourself and others.

If this sounds like something you are interested in doing, please send an email to Alisa, Family Engagement Manager: alisa@bookharvest.org by Friday, January 19th to receive additional information.

We look forward to walking alongside you as we begin this collaborative endeavor!

The School & Family Engagement Team,

Amy, Alisa, Anneke, Gia, Gisela, & Emma
