Well the improvements we've made to the BOB aren't quite this extensive....
...but we are looking forward to a great Alaskan summer on the water.
The crew is all tanned up from a few weeks in the Caribbean: where we sailed, dove, and snorkelled to our hearts' content. After a week on St John USVI, we had friends join us aboard the mighty Sir Galahad II in the British Virgin Islands.
One of our very favorite places to visit in the Inside Passage is the Five Fingers Island Lighthouse. It is a spectacular Coast Guard lighthouse first lit in 1902, and recently has hosted a whale research lab as well as being the perfect setting for at least one action/adventure novel

Last summer we were invited ashore to explore the art-deco structure and surrounding island. A recent news story in the Juneau news will give you an idea of this incredible place.

Join us on our August 25th trip and see this lighthouse aboard S/V BOB, and weather dependent, we may get the underground tour from the lighthouse keepers.
Probably our biggest news is that we were able to finally buy a house in Sitka! We miss the dock life, but have to admit that we'll do just fine as landlubbers.
A few more photos from the boat in the BVI. New Years aboard was a lot of fun, and it was hard to take those glasses seriously...

Here's to a brighter 2024 with sunshine and many rainbows
The BVI is the home of "The Painkiller", and tasty rum drink with all the fixings. The crew recently had the opportunity to perfect this recipe on our charter boat, Sir Galahad II. They say the drink was invented on the island of Jost Van Dyke. It is fine fare if you need a winter pick-me-up, and the nutmeg really ties the room together.

Painkiller recipe ala S/V BOB
  • 1 cup orange juice
  • 1 cup pineapple juice
  • 1/2 cup sweetened cream of coconut
  • 1 cup rum of choice (Pussers Navy Rum recommended)
  • Blend to dissolve coconut cream
  • Add to two glasses with ice
  • Shave whole nutmeg (or sprinkle nutmeg powder) over the top of both
  • Add a fancy slice of fruit
Hand one to a friend, pour yourself the other and get ready for an amazing sunset.
A few trips are still open in July this 2024 season. This is the busy time for bookings, so be sure to contact us soon if you are interested in an incredible sailing adventure.
