Tim Bit Player of the Night
The Tim Hortons TimBit Player of the Night is a local hockey player from the age of 6-9 who is chosen to join the Blazers on the ice for the game opening! The kid who is chosen will be the honorary Blazer for the night, skating out with the team at the start of the game and standing on the blue line with the big kids for the game opening!
Little fans can let us know that they’d like to be chosen as the TimBit Player of the Night for Indigenous Night on February 7, 2024 by filling out the application (link below). Please note the application is due on January 22, 2024 by 4pm. The successful applicant will be notified on January 24, 2024. Completed applications must be emailed to events@ttes.ca.

Skiing and Snowboarding
TteS youth...get ready to hit the slopes! Join us for a day of skiing at Sun Peaks on January 27. We'll be departing from Full Circle Youth Centre (1105 Kamloopa) at 9 am sharp. Everything you need – lunch, rentals, lift passes, and lessons – is on us. Dress appropriately and register by January 20. Learning to Lead
NatureKids BC, with BC Hydro funding, presents "Learning to Lead in the Environmental Sector" at Thompson Rivers University in Kamloops on April 26, 2024. The one-day workshop for youth aged 18-25 is free, and participants will receive a $100 honorarium. Register today... you will gain insights from young environmental professionals, develop career skills, visit local environmental organizations, make new connections and leave inspired!

Archaeological Training
The Archaeological Training For Crew Members course is scheduled for February 12-16 and will prepare individuals for cultural resource management projects in their traditional territory. This intensive program will be held at the Chief Louis Centre Assembly Hall in Kamloops and offers technical skills with an emphasis on the practice of respectful archaeology. The sessions run from Monday to Friday, 8 am to 4 pm, combining classroom instruction with hands-on experience. Participants must be physically fit and ready for outdoor work.
The deadline to apply is February 2nd, with only 10 spots available. For more information and application, interested individuals can contact Heleana Moore in the TteS Natural Resources Department (NRD) at heleana.moore@ttes.ca or 236-597-1605. The course is open to everyone, however band members will be given priority, especially if they are interested in working for NRD.

SSN Title Case
On February 5th, 2024, the SSN Title Case Workshops will provide a crucial update to SSN community members regarding the SSN Title Case. The workshops will take place at two locations, offering flexibility for attendees (SSN members may attend either one). The first session will be held at the Skeetchestn gym from 12 noon to 3pm, with lunch provided. The second session will take place in Kamloops (Tk̓emlúps) at the Coast Canadian Hotel in the Columbia Room from 5pm to 8pm, featuring a buffet supper. Robert Simon will serve as the Chairperson for the workshops, and the presentation will be conducted by Sarah Hanson of Miller Thomson.

Coffee with a Cop
Please note NEW location: Community Services, 300 Chilcotin Road
On Wednesday, February 7 at 10:00 am, Community Services (300 Chilcotin Road) will host our monthly Coffee with a Cop. This gathering aims to foster a better understanding between Tk̓emlúps RCMP and community members. The casual setting of the event will offer a chance to engage in conversations over coffee and tea. The organizers hope that this initiative will further strengthen the relationship between the police and the community. Everyone is welcome to attend, and we look forward to seeing you there!

Pink Shirt Day
Join the anti-bullying movement by participating in Pink Shirt Day on February 28th. Exclusive shirts designed by TteS band member Kelsey Jules are available. The design symbolizes unconditional love, responsibility, and community support, with the deer representing sacrifice for the greater good. Leaders are likened to hunters, emphasizing responsibility for community well-being. Balsamroot and fireweed plants in the design signify healing and highlight the importance of unity. Order your shirt by January 26th for delivery in time to support the message of unity, support, and anti-bullying.

Voting packages, including vital information on 20+ proposed amendments, were mailed to all band members on January 9, 2024. For your convenience, downloadable digital versions are available in the members-only portal.
This is your chance to make a difference! When you receive the documents, please review the proposed amendments covering areas such as scheduling, agenda, procedures, quorum, and protocol. Your voice matters, so don't miss the opportunity to cast your vote on February 15 and contribute to the growth of our community.

Snow Removal Update
The snow continues to fall, with no signs of slowing. Rest assured, Tk̓emlúps crews are out there working hard! Their first priority is to keep the arterial roads open so that traffic and emergency vehicles can move as needed. Please report all road maintenance concerns for any provincial routes (including East Shuswap Road and Paul Lake Road) to Argo Road Maintenance (Kamloops Service Area).

Be More than a Bystander
We are thrilled to announce the upcoming Be More Than A Bystander training scheduled for Monday, February 5, from 5:00 pm to 7:30 pm at Moccasin Square Garden. This event is open to all Tk̓emlúps te Secwépemc Band Members. The Be More Than a Bystander presentations, led by former BC Lion JR LaRose, have been successfully conducted in various Indigenous communities across BC. JR LaRose, a 2011 Grey Cup champion and proud member of One Arrow First Nation, is a highly respected and engaging speaker with a wealth of experience. He has facilitated over 400 presentations in Canada and the United States since 2008, and has been a key spokesperson for the Be More Than A Bystander program since its inception in 2011.

CER Vote
TteS Members are invited to attend a Special Band Meeting (SBM) to VOTE on proposed amendments to the TteS Custom Election Regulations (CER), to be held on February 28, 2024. A 2nd SBM will be held on March 27, 2024 if required to finalize VOTING on remaining CER proposed amendment resolutions not voted on at the Feb. 28th SBM.

Join us on February 13 for an exclusive workshop focused on creating Beaded Pink Shirt Pins in support of Anti-Bullying Day (February 28). Artist Call
Bringing the Salmon Home: The Columbia River Salmon Reintroduction Initiative extends an invitation to submit examples of your work. This artist call is open to accomplished Indigenous artists who are members of the Secwépemc Nation, Syilx Okanagan Nation, or Ktunaxa Nation. All artistic mediums are welcomed. You are invited to share some portfolio examples of your creative work, for reference for potential commissions going forward.

Athletics Development Camp
I∙SPARC (Indigenous Sport, Physical Activity and Recreation Council) is pleased to present the 2024 BC Indigenous Athletics Development Camp camp in partnership with Tk̓emlúps te Secwépemc and the Kamloops Track & Field Club. This event is being held on the weekend of February 3-4, 2024 at the Tournament Capital Centre (TCC) in Kamloops. All Indigenous youth (First Nations, Métis, Inuit), ages 10-18 are invited to participate. Please register before 4pm, Tuesday, January 30.
