Greetings, friends
It's our first e-newsletter of the year, and we're excited to share this new format where we'll be in touch a little more frequently — once a month! We're hoping our popular reclaimed material updates and new online store help you find those reclaimed gems you're looking for. In addition, we'll share the latest from the Perks blog, local deconstruction news, and ways to participate in sustainable building initiatives that are meaningful to you. I hope you enjoy reading.
Sincerely,
Anna Perks

COLORADO NEWS
Deconstruction Policy Toolkit for Municipalities Now Available
Cities and towns across the state that are interested in learning more about deconstruction can now access a free toolkit from Recycle Colorado to help guide their efforts. The nonprofit's C&D Council, of which owner Anna Perks is a member, created the tool to provide policymakers and local government officials with a step-by-step process to develop policies to manage C&D materials — from research through policy development, program implementation, and ongoing management — in the hopes of inspiring municipalities to adopt more sustainable construction and demolition practices. The free toolkit is available here.
Perks Deconstruction also offers deconstruction policy consulting to municipalities looking to implement more sustainable C&D practices.

DECONSTRUCTION LEADERSHIP
Emily Freeman of the City of Boulder wins CGBG Green Champion Award
Congratulations to our colleague Emily Freeman, Policy Advisor, Circular Economy for the City of Boulder, for winning this year’s Colorado Green Building Guild (CGBG) Green Champion Award!
Emily oversees the success of Boulder’s Deconstruction ordinance to keep carbon intensive building materials available for reuse and recycling. Since ordinance implementation Boulder has diverted 72% of building materials from the landfill. Emily is leading efforts to identify opportunities for improvement, engage with the deconstruction community, and drive progress towards the city’s goals. We appreciate Emily's hard work and feel lucky to have her working on impactful C&D policy and initiatives in Boulder!
