DUT ROBOTICS STUDENT CLUB ANNOUNCED AMONGST THE 30 WINNING TEAMS FOR THE 2024 FORMULA STUDENT RS BUILD FUND

The Arm (E3)NGAGE Robotics Student Club consisting of students from the Faculties of Accounting and Informatics, Art and Design and from Engineering and the Built Environment at the Durban University of Technology (DUT), were recently announced as one of the 30 winning teams for the 2024 Formula Student RS Build Fund.

The Formula Student RS Build Fund is an engineering competition that was established in Europe about 25 years ago. It aims to develop enterprising and innovative young engineers and encourage more young people globally to take up a career in engineering.

MNCUBE’S AMBITIONS FOR THE SRC IS FOR THEM TO ADVOCATE FOR THE DUT LIVING VALUES

The Durban University of Technology (DUT) Communications team member, Patience Makhaye, spoke to the newly elected 2023/25 Student Representative Council (SRC) Deputy Secretary-General, Wandiswa Joyful Mncube, to formally introduce himself to the DUT community.

Mncube has enrolled for his degree in Journalism. He is an Art and Design Faculty Board member and a class representative for Journalism first year students.

IEP AND INNOBIZ ARE HOSTING AN EXCITING DUT INTERCULTURAL WEEK

The International Education and Partnerships (IEP) office  in collaboration with the innobiz Durban University of Technology (DUT) Centre for Entrepreneurship and Innovation are hosting an exciting DUT Intercultural Week, themed “Exploring Formal and Informal Economy in Durban, South Africa. The event will take place from Monday, 19 February 2024 to Saturday, 25 February 2024.

The DUT Intercultural Week is designed to provide German exchange students with a comprehensive exploration of the formal and informal economy in Durban, South Africa.

DUT IEP HOSTED THE 2024 INTERNATIONAL EXCHANGE STUDENTS’ ORIENTATION 

The Durban University of Technology (DUT) International Education and Partnerships (IEP) unit hosted the official 2024 International Exchange Students’ orientation at ML Sultan campus on Wednesday, 7 February 2024.

The purpose of the orientation was to integrate new international students into the university community. The programme director of the event was Carol Newman, the international education officer.

In his welcome, Dr Lavern Samuels, Director of International Education and Partnership, congratulated the new students who made it to DUT from the different parts of the world.

DUT IMPACT

Durban University of Technology (DUT) approved the ENVISION2030 Living Values Framework. The five values are identified as transparency, honesty, integrity, respect and accountability. The principles espoused are fairness, professionalism, commitment, compassion and excellence. DUT’s Communications team, Simangele Zuma spoke to Lehlohonolo Mokhohlouloane, Safety, Health, Environment, (SHE) Specialist at DUT.

Q: Kindly tell me about your role at DUT? 

A: “I am a SHE Specialist in the university. My role is to ensure that the health and safety of staff and students is a priority in the university.
