Dear members of the Emmanuel and Laurel Hall Community,
This is the third in a continuing series of articles regarding the progress of our Call Committee. Please continue to keep the Call Committee in your prayers as we begin our interview process.
The Call Committee is receiving recommended pastoral candidates from the Synod. Review of the candidates’ Rostered Minister Profiles and interviews will be conducted by the Call Committee; the entire congregation has the final decision by election. People have asked about prospective pastoral candidates suggested by the congregation. From the Call Committee handbook:
In some instances, names of possible pastoral candidates surface in the congregation. These names should be directed to the Call Committee chairperson and must be persons on the ELCA clergy roster or approved seminary graduates. The names will then be submitted to the Synod office to be considered along with other potential candidates. If the candidate is on the clergy roster of another Synod, our Synod staff will need to obtain clearance from the Bishop of that Synod.
Under NO circumstance is it appropriate for a member of the Call Committee to make direct contact with a prospective candidate. If a possible candidate contacts the congregation directly, please refer them to the Call Committee chairperson and a Synod staff representative.
If the Congregation/Call Committee would like to submit names of possible candidates, please provide the pastor’s full legal name, address, and telephone number.

EMMANUEL LUTHERAN FOUNDATION
LHS SCHOLARSHIP
Dear Laurel Hall Parent:
The Emmanuel Lutheran Foundation is pleased to announce that it has a limited number of scholarships to award to deserving Laurel Hall Students. Applications are being received for the 2024-2025 Laurel Hall academic year. The Tina Overton Brende, Eames Family, and Foundation Board Scholarship Funds were established to provide tuition assistance for Laurel Hall students. These scholarships are not open to Emmanuel/Laurel Hall staff families.
Scholarship applicants must:
- Be a student at Laurel Hall
- Be in Transitional kindergarten or above in the 2023-2024 school year
- Have a 2.75 (B-) minimum grade point average
- Be of the Christian faith
- Complete and return a Scholarship Application Form with pages 1 and 2 of your 2022 Form 1040 income tax return
Please note that a written response (page 3) is to be completed by the student. The student’s responses may be handwritten or typed. Applications must be returned by Friday, March 15th, 2024 to the Church office in person, by mail, by sending a PDF E-mail file of the application to Scholarships@elcnoho.org, or placed in the Emmanuel Lutheran Foundation mail slot across the lobby from the Church office. Please be sure to address the envelope to the Emmanuel Lutheran Foundation. Scholarship awards will be announced in April 2024, and scholarship recipients and their families will be recognized by Emmanuel Lutheran Church.
The Emmanuel Lutheran Foundation manages perpetual and special endowment funds donated by members and friends of Emmanuel Lutheran Church and its ministries. Gifts to the Foundation provide scholarships, facility improvements, playground equipment, youth ministry and financial support for special projects at Emmanuel Lutheran Church, Laurel Hall School, and the Laurel Hall Pre-School. Emmanuel Friends of Music
Sunday, February 25, 4pm • Cabaret – Returning Show!
The Parish Hall will be transformed into a family-friendly nightclub to present some of your favorite performers from Emmanuel, Laurel Hall and ELATE with live band, small tables, and yummy sweets and non-alcoholic beverages. A wide variety of acts will be presented, including excerpts from the school musical Newsies! There will be new faces this year so don’t miss out.
Admission is free but we will be accepting voluntary donations to help fund production costs of Newsies. This is a great chance to come together for fellowship, camaraderie and some wonderful entertainment. Another fun show presented by Emmanuel Friends of Music.
