FARE Idaho Supports House Bill 473
FARE Idaho supports House Bill 473 which is a voluntary program for landowners that incentivizes preserving farmland for a 20 year time commitment.

This legislation provides landowners with an additional option when considering preserving agricultural land in the state. The legislation adds a new chapter to the Idaho Land Use Planning Act that would provide the legislative authority for local units of government to receive applications from willing landowners to establish a land use designation, known as an Agricultural Protection Area. View full Bill information here.
Updates to Nice Healthcare Benefits
FARE Idaho partners with Nice Healthcare for membership benefits. Nice offers on-demand, in-home and virtual care that is affordably priced, easily accessible, and uniquely positioned to keep patients on the right care track. Their services are meant to diagnose, treat and above all, prevent short-term and chronic conditions - usually with no cost to patients.

2024 Major Updates:
  • Eligibility is limited to employees and their benefit eligible family members. (spouse and children up to the age of 26).
  • Acute and Chronic illnesses are being prioritized over wellness checks and routine lab draws.
  • Pricing is currently $44 per employee per month.
  • If a group meets the threshold of 60% employees living within the in person service area those employees who live outside of the in person service area will have access to Nice Healthcare virtually at no additional charge.
Treasure Valley Food Hub Discussion Video Now Available
When you imagine a food hub for the city of Boise, what do you need it to do for you? FARE Idaho and City of Good met with farmers, ranchers, food & beverage producers and buyers of locally sourced products to discuss food hub options in the Treasure Valley.

The discussion centered around the producers' need for aggregation and distribution, the Resilient Food Systems Infrastructure (RFSI) Grant Program and how we are working together to move forward. Watch the full video on our YouTube Channel.

The LOR Foundation will begin accepting applications for its Field Work initiative on March 20, 2024. This year the initiative will provide funding for approximately 10 farmers and ranchers to implement innovative approaches to using water in agriculture. Farmers and ranchers in rural parts of Colorado, Idaho, Montana, New Mexico, and Wyoming are eligible for up to $10,000.

  • Who Can Apply: LOR’s Field Work initiative is open to farmers and ranchers in rural areas and on tribal lands in Colorado, Idaho, Montana, New Mexico, and Wyoming. Applicants must have independent authority to make changes to water use on the land.

  • What Can Be Funded: The foundation is most interested in novel, creative, or new ideas to address persistent challenges. These innovations must be entirely new technologies, products, and practices or highly creative ways of expanding and modifying an existing approach for a new purpose. Projects that improve outcomes in the following areas are eligible: water efficiency, water reliability, water quality, crop yield or crop diversification, and labor efficiency. Projects must be completed in 2024 and must include a commitment and plan for reporting learnings.
