Grand Damper Systems Demystified

Grand damper systems involve more than simply seating felt. In this class, we will demonstrate cutting and bending damper wires, adjusting underlever spoons and capstans, and correcting problems such as twisting and traveling during damper lift. Timing with both the key and pedal will also be covered. The demonstration will be performed on the new PTG 3-note action model made by Renner.

Duane McGuire will host a piano stringing workshop on March 16 at his shop in Clinton, UT.

Participants will practice field work skills with stringing jigs, but also have be able to put those skills to work in an actual piano.   

Participation will be limited to eight registered students.  Instruction will begin at 10 am.  Stay for lunch.  In the afternoon, stay for as long as you wish for practice and tool making. 

Bonus:  at the close of the workshop take home parts of the piano we worked on.  It's always nice to have some parts to practice skills.
