Hello, Residents!

We hope you had a lovely Valentine's Day! Our team had a great time visiting our seniors on Valentine's Day! We encourage you to pay a visit or make a call to your neighbor or loved one.

In this newsletter, you will read about all the great things we have been up to, from enhancing accessibility for our residents through Satellite Ward Services to hosting different departments, including the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, which was offering VA services to our Veterans in the ward and providing comprehensive support. Cook County Commissioner Anthony Quezada was also in our office assisting residents in understanding their property tax bills and helping property owners file for tax exemptions and certificates of errors.

In addition, don't miss the opportunity to explore youth summer job opportunities – an initiative to empower the youth in our community! As well as the Home Repair program!

Outreach In Our Office -

The 30th Ward hosted Cook County Commissioner Anthony Quezada’s office and the Office of Veterans Affairs so that our residents could access their services without leaving the neighborhood. We are excited to bring more outreach to the ward in the coming months!

Safer streets contribute to safer communities! Recently, I had a productive meeting with CDOT to discuss the upcoming Complete Streets project for Belmont, Milwaukee, and Addison Ave. This initiative aims to enhance accessibility and safety for all modes of transportation. Stay tuned for details on an upcoming community meeting in the months ahead – your input is crucial in making our streets safer for everyone!

Exciting news! Collaborating with residents, the Department of Transportation and our office, we’ve taken action on the 3800 block of Milwaukee to enhance pedestrian and cyclist safety. We’re committed to ongoing meetings to address safety concerns.  🚶🚴‍♀️ #CommunitySafety

Department of Procurement Services

I had the pleasure of attending the annual 2024 Construction Summit held by the Department of Procurement Services.

There were interactive panel discussions, networking opportunities, and presentations to promote veteran-owned business enterprise certification, Minority- and Women-Owned Business enterprises, and more.

Also, Chicago departments were in attendance, including critical infrastructure departments such as the Department of Planning and Development (DPD), the Department of Housing (DOH), the Department of Transportation (CDOT), and others. All of whom are key in building Chicago’s future.

Keeping the 30th Ward Clean

The 30th Ward team has been hard at work in the community, addressing constituent concerns about cleanliness. In the past weeks, we’ve tackled various issues, including damaged street signs, faded street markings, and broken garbage bins. Our team has been proactive, surveying the area to identify and address these issues. If you spot us while we’re out and about, feel free to stop and say hello – we love meeting our residents!

As part of the City of Chicago’s goals to reduce transportation carbon emissions and advance environmental justice, the Chicago Department of Transportation (CDOT) is developing a framework plan to equitably advance Electric Vehicle (EV) and e-mobility infrastructure improvements in Chicago.

Part of this process involved creating the Chicago Moves Electric survey, with questions about mobility needs, familiarity with electric vehicles and more to help improve the future of EVs and e-mobility. This includes locations for more charging stations and additional information about EVs and e-mobility that should be shared with the public to spread knowledge about equitable and sustainable transportation options. This survey is available at this link until February 29.

An additional Chicago Moves Electric Fleet Survey on commercial electric vehicles aimed at companies and organizations is now available for public participation here.
