  • Teenagers experience both property and personal crime more frequently than other age groups. We can all play a positive part in helping prevent these crimes. Account for and protect your personal belongings by always being aware of your surroundings and securing them safely. Please, if you see something… say something.
     
  • WELLNESS FUN FRIDAY
  • Join us in the Student Center during all lunches TODAY Friday 2/2 for our next Wellness Fun Friday! Practice ways to speak up with our photo booth and pledge, up your allyship with new books and buttons, and feel the love with some pre-Valentine’s Day candy treats.   • OPRF LIBRARY TO HOST AUTHOR TIFFANY D. JACKSON
  • Join us for a virtual author visit with Tiffany D. Jackson on Friday February 9th during 3rd period in the Little Theater! Turn in your field trip form by Wednesday February 7th. **We are also searching for a student moderator to interview the author during the visit! Email Ms. Hooper if you're interested!
     
  • SRC TUTORING UPDATE
  • Students, please note that even though the SRC is being used for classes, there is still Math tutoring before, during, and after school. We also have Science and Executive Functioning tutoring after school, we also have evening Math tutoring on Mondays and Wednesdays from 5 - 7pm and English, History and Writing on Mondays and Tuesday from 5-7pm.   • OPERATION SNOWBALL – YOGA EVENT
  • Come get Zen with Jenn at Ahimsa in Oak Park on Sunday February 4th and support Operation Snowball. You can sign up on the Ahimsa webpage or scan the QR code that is posted on the flyers! Come out and support the yoga and Snowball community! Any questions: see Ms. Kanwischer.
     
  • FOOD SERVICE NEWS
  • We are now offering build your own salads at the panini lines in both the north and south cafeteria. Choose from your lettuce base, protein, cheese, and assorted toppings.
     
  • CAREERS IN THE ARTS NIGHT—TUESDAY FEB. 6th (6pm-8pm)
  • Come see professionals in Careers in the Arts: Graphic Designers, Animators, Fashion Designers, Ceramic Artists, Portfolio Specialists, and College Professors. There will be 3 sessions to choose from to hear about different careers in the arts from professionals in the field.

  • We all know that second semester feeling when high school starts to feel like high school and school gets a little bit too hard… Spring Break seems years away and you haven’t seen the sun since October…. well we’ve got a solution for that – Snowball!!!

  • HUSKIE ATHLETES
  • Huskie Athletes! There will be an opportunity to learn more about your pathway to college through sports on Monday, February 12th at 7PM in the Little Theatre at OPRFHS. Guardians and athletes can come to this free informational seminar about college athletics, eligibility and recruiting. See flyer for more details!
     
  • COMPUTER PROFICIENCY EXAM REGISTRATION – 2/22
  • Registration for the second Computer Proficiency Exam on February 22nd will open at 8:00am on Thursday February 8th. You must be a freshman, sophomore or junior not currently enrolled in Digital Literacy to be eligible to sit for the exam. The registration link is attached or see your counselor. Reach out to Mr. Prebble in Rm 3117 with any questions.
     
  • SCHOLARSHIP OPPORTUNITES
  • The Oak Park-River Forest Community Foundation is seeking local applicants who have been active in community service to apply for college scholarship opportunities. Links to the applications may be linked below, and more information is available on the website HERE.
     
    The Kiwanis Club of River Forest / Oak Park awards several scholarships ranging from $1,000 to $2,500 to residents of Oak Park or River Forest who have demonstrated exemplary efforts in community service to others, achievements in scholastics, and extra-curricular activities to attend the college of their choice. The deadline to apply

    The Rotary Club of Oak Park-River Forest awards several $1,500 college scholarships to graduating seniors who are residents of Oak Park or River Forest and are active in community service.  Deadline to apply

  • SUMMER ENRICHMENT GRANTS
  • The OPRFHS Alumni Association provides financial assistance to current freshmen, sophomores and juniors for academic-related SUMMER enrichment opportunities. The application is available at this LINK! The deadline is WEDNESDAY, FEBRUARY 21. Questions? Send an e-mail to: alumniassociation@oprfhs.org
     
  • AP STUDENTS
  • The March 1 deadline is quickly approaching! Please be sure you are registered for your exams in your College Board account and that you have paid for your exams in Total Registration at TotalRegistration.net/AP/143245. Remember, if you took an AP Exam last year or registered for the PSAT/NMSQT this year, you already have a Total Registration account. DO NOT create a new one. See Ms. Asbury’s email to families on September 14 (for yearlong and fall semester-only AP courses) and January 17 (for spring semester-only AP courses) for detailed information on using Total Registration. Be sure to pay for your exam(s) by March 1 or an exam will not be ordered for you! If you are a student on waiver, your exams fees are waived. However, you MUST register your exams in Total Registration and indicate that you are on waiver instead of making a payment or an exam will not be ordered for you. Any questions, see Ms. Asbury in Room 3254.
