WOMENS FREEDOM SONG CONTEST
Can you write the next female anthem? Contest starts Dec.19 and runs until March 1! Winners will be announced on International Womens Day, March 8. Join us in celebrating this day and enter your song, poem/lyric or music video in our contest. Do they celebrate the power and strength of a woman? Well send them in. (Open to all genders). The sixth year! Do you have an inspirational song, music video or lyric?
The contest is open to everyone. The International Songwriters Day Song Contest are not looking for production and performance. Originality, melody and lyrics are the main judging criteria.
There is also a Music Video category and Lyric/Poem category. Deadline April 2, 2024

EXCHANGE OPEN HOUSE: FEATURING GUIDED TOURS, ART INSTALLATIONS, LIVE MUSIC, ACTIVITIES, VENDORS, AND MORE! 
After much anticipation, the City of Niagara Falls is pleased to announce the official opening of the Niagara Falls Exchange on SATURDAY, FEBRUARY 17 @ 10am-4pm, 2024. Located at 5943 Sylvia Place, this multipurpose event space will serve as the epicentre of Niagara Falls Arts & Culture.

All are welcome to an Open House! The free, drop-in style event will feature art installations, live music, activities, vendors and more. The community will be able to explore the new Arts & Culture facility, including the Market Hall, Artist & Woodworking Studios and Café (opening at a later date).

An All Inclusive Art & Fashion Show
There will be an open champagne bar, delicious hors d'oeuvres and even a harpist wearing a balaclava. What more do you want?
The event is multi-faceted and will include an interactive art performance by the J-OH team, a large-scale painting exhibition by Niagara artists, an exhibition of Geoff Farnsworth's sculptures (provided by the John Mann Gallery), and a fashion show. On top of this, the event will function as a living art organism full of a series of improvised micro-events (including dance and fashion performances), live music, food and drink vendors and more.

MY STORY, MY TATOO
SATURDAY, JANUARY 20 - SUNDAY, MAY 5
Tattoos are living images that reveal important stories about our residents, our community and the tattoo phenomenon. “My Story, My Tattoo” features 32 photographs and stories of people and their amazing tattoos.
Participants represent every walk of life –everyone from a cancer survivor to teachers and their students, a firefighter and a farmer. The participants range in age from 26 to 89 years and live throughout Wellington County.
All of the individuals were open and honest, and their stories and personalities are represented through this series of thought-provoking and colourful images. Chris Piccinetti, a Guelph photographer and graphic designer for the County of Wellington, photographed these inspiring images. DETAILS

"Reclaiming the Narrative: Black Archives at the Archives of Ontario"
THURSDAY, FEBRUARY 8 @ 7:00 pm
Join Archives of Ontario's Archivist Melissa J. Nelson for a talk on the power and potential of Black archival collections. Melissa positions these collections as tools for empowerment that allow Black record creators to reclaim the historical narrative. This talk celebrates Black record creators who documented and passed on their life's stories.
Materials to be discussed will include the Wilma Morrison fonds.
