The next FCA-FAC General Meeting will be held Wednesday February 14. A prime topic at the meeting will be Community Emergency Preparedness.

2. On February 1, FCA wrote to Mayor Sutcliffe about the future of the Community Partnership Insurance Program which is to be discussed at Finance & Corporate Services Committee on February 6. The letter is at https://fca-fac.ca/wp-content/uploads/2024/02/2024Feb1LT-Mayor-Sutcliffe.pdf

3. The City is conducting a review of its vehicle Idling Control By-law enacted in 2007 to improve air quality and reduce emissions. A survey is available on Engage Ottawa until March 15 at https://engage.ottawa.ca/idling-control-by-law-review

4. Two changes to the Tree Protection By-law came into effect on February 1. Rules for removing distinctive trees are now consistent in urban and suburban parts of the City (see Streamlining Distinctive Tree Provisions) and permit fees are increasing (see Schedule D of the by-law).

5. 2024 FCA Membership- It is the new year and time now to renew your Membership with FCA.  If your organization is not a Member, perhaps you would like to join. FCA Memberships are available to non-profit, voluntary community, neighbourhood, property owners', tenants or other similar associations or groups based in Ottawa.  Other non-profit, voluntary organizations may apply for consideration by the Board for membership. Membership fee is $40 for the year.  Each Member organization has one vote per motion at FCA meetings.  We ask at every meeting for the one representative who will be voting on behalf of each Member organization to identify themselves for the records.  Questions about FCA Membership should be sent to at Membership@fca-fac.ca.
