I have so many conversations with comedians who are doing great!! But they have this sense that they are “behind” in some way. Or they aren't doing what they are “supposed” to be doing. And I hear defeated talk at shows and online from really new comics who are comparing themselves to people waaaay ahead of them or forgetting about that big old apocalypse gap that changed everything.
Now, there are no sign posts and every time you think you spot one, it moves or changes. With that disclaimer out of the way, I've put together a rough guide for the stages of your career.
