Welcome to the February installment of the NYC Innovation Hot Spot Resource Roundup for 2024! We usher in the month with a touch of Groundhog Day optimism, as the furry forecaster hints that the season for innovation pitches is nearly upon us. Grant Proposal Writing Workshop
The National Funding Foundation is hosting a Grant Proposal Writing Workshop to successful grant writing practices. This online program will follow a module format to cover the fundamentals of program planning, proposal writing essentials, and the basics of funding research. Manufacturing Grant

FuzeHub's 2024 Manufacturing Grant seeks to support the collaboration of not-for-profit organizations and New York State small to medium-sized manufacturers. You can receive up to $65,000 to lead the creation of valuable economic impacts in our communities while growing New York’s manufacturing sector. Check out this video made by the FuzeHub team!

The Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) has launched a new track on Building an Adaptive & Competitive Workforce through the Tools Competition. If you are a researcher, student, educator, technologist, or digital learning platform expert, this track is seeking tools that help adults enhance their data science and STEM skills. Tools at all phases of ideation and development are eligible to submit a brief Phase I abstract, and the winning tools will be awarded a total of $750,000 to support adult learners in developing skills for the current and future national security workforce.

 
Abstracts are due by February 26, 2024. 
If your international (non U.S) startup focuses on AI for Intelligence and Decision-Making Applications, Quantum Sensing, and Indigenous Materials Forward, the 2024 xTechInternational Competition is accepting concept white papers until March 7, 2024! The competition will award up to $500,000 in cash prizes to selected participants, in addition to the opportunity to engage with U.S. DoD and other international partners. U.S. entities are, however, eligible to participate if they are partnering with an international business. Review open topics and eligibility here
The National Science Foundation SBIR/STTR program offers up to $275,000 in non-dilutive funding to early-stage startups with fewer than 500 employees to propel innovative and deep technological advancements. Submit your proposal by March 9, 2024 for an opportunity to secure crucial funding and transform groundbreaking research into tangible products with commercial potential!
Accelerators & Fellowships
The Transit Tech Lab has launched their Challenge Competitions for startups working on a solution for public transportation  difficulties. Selected companies will learn about the regional transit agencies and modify their technology to meet the transit system's needs. If you are a New York State-based company with a working beta technology, don't miss out on this opportunity to develop a proof of concept over this eight-week accelerator.

MassChallenge has launched the U.S Early Stage Accelerator, its newest opportunity for propel early stage startups, and is accepting applications until February 29, 2024. Companies from the ideation stage to early market engagement are provided mentorship, capital opportunities, peer support, and more in this cohort-based hybrid program format! With industry-specific programming, participants in the following specialized tracks—Climate, Dual Use, FinTech, and HealthTech— can benefit from tailored mentor guidance and increased readiness within these sectors.

NIH BIO-Entrepreneurship Capstone Program
The NIH BIO-Entrepreneurship Capstone Program is open to students, postgraduate fellows, and early career faculty who have an interest in life science entrepreneurship and improving public health. Candidates who are new to the NIH funding ecosystem will be introduced to life science entrepreneurship,  commercialization, and product development over a curated three-stage program. The BIO-Entrepreneurship Capstone will conclude with select attendance and presentation opportunity at the annual BIO International Convention
