Interfaith Intersection 2024 - Join us!
Wisconsin Faith Voices for Justice is excited to announce our 2024 Interfaith Intersections events.  This program brings people together to hold intentional conversations on a variety of topics related to faith.

An important aspect of this program is that our panelists are lay people, not clergy or academics.  Therefore, panelists will address the topics speaking from their own understanding of their faith but not speaking for their faith.

WIVEC: Pray with Your Feet, Pray With Your Vote Join us!
The Wisconsin Interfaith Voter Engagement Campaign (WIVEC), a joint project of Wisconsin Faith Voices for Justice and the Wisconsin Council of Churches, is jumping into 2024 with both feet!  We are inviting you to join us!

As we move into 2024, we are already beginning to hear about elections. With both a spring and a fall election which include a presidential race, the election will be front and center this year.

As people of faith, we may be asking, what does my faith have to do with voting? While there are strict rules about the separation of church and state (faith communities are not allowed to tell people who to vote for), there are plenty of ways that faith communities CAN do civic engagement and be involved in the election process. In fact, we often advocate that faith communities have a duty to be involved in advocacy and the public sphere.

As a faith community, your congregation can encourage voting, host voter registration drives, do non-partisan voter outreach through events like postcard parties and canvassing, hold candidate forums (as long as all candidates are invited), and do voter education.

New this year, WIVEC has designated three levels to help congregations assess how they’d like to do voter engagement. Once your congregation signs up, we will reach out to provide resources.  We are updating our list so even if your congregation has been part of WIVEC in the past, please still fill out the google form.

COMMUNICATE: Communicate about voting through your various channels (announcements, newsletters, social media, bulletins, etc). Click here for more ideas and resources.

ENERGIZE: Energize your congregants by offering events that focus on voting efforts (entry-level activities that connect with fellow congregants and services focused on the congregation’s voting needs). Click here for more ideas and resources.

OUTREACH: Reach out beyond your congregation to the needs of the community at large (interfaith events and community needs). Click here for more ideas and resources.

WIVEC's interfaith organizer, Rhonda Lindner, is available as a resource and to help congregations think through how they can participate in voter engagement in their context. Feel free to reach out to her (or Rev. Breanna Illéné on the WCC staff or Rabbi Bonnie Margulis at WFVJ) with questions or to brainstorm projects.

Please sign up here to join WIVEC in 2024!

Thank you,
Rev. Breanna Illéné

Volunteer Opportunities -
WFVJ is Seeking a Treasurer and Nominations for Board Members
Wisconsin Faith Voices for Justice seeks a Volunteer Treasurer to join our Board. Duties include general oversight of WFVJ finances, reporting monthly to the Board; managing bi-monthly payroll ensuring that payroll taxes and reports are filed, and preparing financial information for tax reporting.

Familiarity with QuickBooks Online is a plus.

CPA not necessary but some experience working with non-profit accounting, or a willingness to learn is desired.

Filing annual tax reports optional depending on ability. Time commitment is approximately 2 hours/month, plus the time needed to prepare annual tax filings.

We also have open positions on our Board of Directors.  We meet monthly via zoom and once or twice a year in person for a half-day retreat.  We seek a diverse board in terms of age, geographic reach around Wisconsin, faith traditions, ethnicity, gender identify. If you are committed to justice and building bridges among faiths, please be in touch to learn more!

If interested, or to learn more, please contact WFVJ Executive Director
Rabbi Bonnie Margulis at wifaithvoices4justice@gmail.com or 608-513-7121.
