From the Head of School
Dear Gardner community,
It's that time of year when we truly see the growth in our students, and their intelligences shine in a variety of ways. Learning to communicate with one another is an important aspect of school, and every day I witness the ways our school allows children the space to practice, make mistakes, learn, and enjoy friendships with a wide range of people. Activities like our recent Snow Ball, ongoing events like reading buddies and community meetings help us connect together in fun and meaningful ways.
As we're approaching re-enrollment time, we're excited to see so many younger siblings getting ready to join their big brothers and sisters at Gardner. Watching children and families grow over the years is a special joy of mine, and seeing alumni siblings on campus, too, is a treat. It reminds me that the work we do here daily impacts many folks out in the greater community as these students go on to be leaders, coaches, and volunteers throughout Clark County. I believe the strong foundation students get here supports their growth as caring citizens of Clark County, benefitting all of us now and into the future.
Thank you for being part of the Gardner School, and for being the supportive community that makes this all possible.
With gratitude,
|

Our youngest learners, Tumtum preschool students, had a chance to showcase their learning at their Celebration of Learning! This group was especially inspired by going to see Goodnight Moon at the theater, so Teacher Sarah followed their lead and provided opportunities for exploration and play! The students wanted to showcase their Three Little Pigs story study, and created a fun and unique play that included the Big Bad Wolf, Structural Engineer Pig, Masonry Pig, Architect Pig, and many more! We love the creativity and bravery of our Tumtum students!

Gardner Market is coming soon!
Gardner Market is just a few weeks away on Monday, February 26th at 2:00 pm, and we know students are already working on building up their supply of projects to sell! This is also a good time to have a chat with your child about how much they should be charging for their products. While many students have already made decisions on what to charge, they are welcome to make changes to the price of their products throughout the market.
Families are encouraged to attend and shop at our Gardner Market! Many fantastic products have been created by our students, and it's a wonderful way to see our whole community together. We are happy to support the Vancouver Bee Project, the local non-profit students will be donating proceeds to this year. Invite your friends, neighbors, and grandparents to join us!

Pricing and Purchasing
Payment Process
Our student population is limited to $20 (please send the money in $1 bills if possible) per student for money to bring to the market. Please make sure your child's money is in a secure place and clearly labeled with their name. Children will be in charge of their own purchases and tracking of spending while at the market.
Our kindergarten and 1st grade students will likely need more parent support in managing their funds. Not able to attend? Please let your child's teacher know so we can make sure a grown-up buddy is available for them!

Overnight Outdoor School
Klickitat's Islandwood Adventure
|
|
|
This week, Klickitat is off on a multiple night adventure to Islandwood, on Bainbridge Island in Puget Sound. Last fall the students went to Mt. St. Helens for a one-night stay and program about our local volcanoes. This time, they'll be learning all about the area ecology, visiting a tidal zone, having daily field studies, and sharing adventures with their classmates and other visiting schools. We're looking forward to seeing updates and photos from their trip!
