A. Just Happened:
1. Thanks to the Education Committee for hosting the trip to the Sonoma Valley Museum of Art and to Dennis McCaffrey our docent for helping us enjoy the museum.
2. The Russian River Clergy met today, February 29th at St. Paul's Healdsburg, where various parish ministries were shared, such as a band concert (Country Western) from Good Shepherd Cloverdale is being planned, an outdoor café is being built on the playground at St. Stephen's Sebastopol, a six session seminar on serving the poor is being presented at St. Francis in Willets and seven churches in Ft. Bragg have been sharing Lenten worship services.
B. Happening Now:
1. Nomadic Shelter at St. Patrick's Saturday, March 2nd at 5 p.m. Call Betsy if you are planning to help. *see below
2. A training session on Zoom for those interested in becoming a team member for the Russian River Deanery Regional Discernment Group will take place on Saturday, March 2nd 9 a.m. - 12 p.m. *See graphic below for sign up.
3. The Rev. Karen King will celebrate and preach this Sunday, March 3rd at St. Patrick's. The Rev. L.A. King and Fr. Ed will attend The Rev. Daniel Green's last Sunday at St. John's Petaluma this Sunday March 3rd.
C. About to Happen:
1. Eleanor Albon will be our organist / pianist for two future Sundays, March 10th and 17th. She will also play for two Memorial Services coming soon, for Bruce Marts on Saturday, March 9th and for Carol Gwatkin on Sunday, March 17th with a memorial service and interment in the Memorial Garden.
2. March 17th is also St. Patrick's Day. Even though it is Lent, it is also a Sunday, so you can eat green candy.
3. The Kenwood Press will have an advertisement for St. Patrick's Holy Day Worship Services. Look for it. We will also have banners out by the highway, with dates and times of Holy Week Services.
4. Those dates and times are:
Palm Sunday - March 24th - 10AM
Maundy Thursday - March 28th - 5PM
Good Friday - March 29th - Noon and 5PM
Easter Sunday - March 31st - 10AM
Many more details next week about The Holy Week Worship Services. The Stations of the Cross are now on the Church Walls, and the booklets are available for all who would walk the stations.
5. Formation: The Cycles of our Church Seasons, Calendar, Liturgy, Lectionary
In Anglicanism the seasons of the church year are as integral to our being as are the seasons of the natural year. As our bones tell us to prepare for spring, summer, autumn, and winter, our spirits tell us to prepare for Avent, Christmas, Lent, Easter, Pentecost, and even Ordinary Time.
Just as we are part of the infinite cycle of creation so are we immersed in the infinite cycle of salvation. The seasons of the natural year give us insight into this "fragile island home," and the seasons of the church year give us insight into the "author of our salvation."
Therefore, let's spend some time together getting re-acquainted with the cycles of the church season, calendar, liturgy, and Lectionary, which are the foundation upon which we celebrate the life of our savior, the life of the church, the life of the spirit, and the life of the spirit within us.

Becoming A Beloved Community - Schools
BUILDING LIBRARY COLLECTIONS TO INCLUDE RESPECT, UNDERSTANDING OF CULTURES AND DIVERSITY WHILE ENHANCING COMPASSION AND SOCIAL JUSTICE
Join this special opportunity to provide books for the libraries at El Verano School and Kenwood School! Stories from diverse cultures and ethnic backgrounds as well as biographies of ordinary citizens doing extraordinary work to make a difference in our American society. Titles such as “All are Welcome Here”, “Ordinary People Change the World”, “I am....Muhammad Ali, ...Marie Curie”, “Chocolate Milk, Por Favor: Celebrating Diversity with Empathy” and many more will update the collections in both schools.
Here is how you can participate: Each donation of $15 buys one book; $30 provides 2 books and so on with a discount of 7 books for $100. Each donor will receive a receipt and the titles of the books purchased. Our goal is to provide at least 50 books by March 1 so that the schools will celebrate “Read Across America” on March 4 with many new books to read!
Any amount is greatly appreciated! Please send a check, noting in the memo, “BBC-Schools Books” and the number of books to be funded, to St. Patrick’s Episcopal Church, P.O. Box 247, Kenwood, California 95452. St. Patrick’s Episcopal Church is a 501(C3) entity.

Here’s what goes in the Blessing Bags:
1 pop top can of pasta with meat
1 juice box
1 granola-type bar
1 package of crackers with cheese or peanut butter
A napkin and sturdy plastic fork
Place everything in a quart-sized plastic bag. The stretchable Glad bags work very well. If you like, you can include a short hopeful message.
Blessing Bag Report, February 2024
Members of St Patrick’s again were generous in their donations of 60 Blessing Bags to the Redwood Gospel Mission. That number was close to the record 67 set in December 2023. Thank you to all of you who donated in February and kept some people fed who otherwise would have gone hungry. The generosity in our congregation is truly remarkable and inspiring.
The deadline for the next opportunity to donate Blessing Bags is March 10. You are welcome to leave them in the basket in the Narthex or drop them off at our home, 8399 Oakmont Dr, Santa Rosa, CA 95409. Socks Needed For the Homeless
The Daughters of the King are requesting that socks be given to the homeless. Please shop and bring them to church with you. Any style, any size, including kids’ sizes are needed. Please buy dark colored socks. New socks, not used, are requested.
There will be a special drop-off with a Sign in the Narthex. Dark colors such as black and navy are particularly requested. Thank you for working on our first project of the year with us!

When was the last time someone stopped everything to listened to you? They put down their phones, turned off the T.V., turned their bodies towards you, and listened intently to you? Listening is world altering gift. If you have the gift of listening I am asking you to join a Regional Discernment Group (RDG). We especially need people in the Russian River Deanery and Capital Deanery to join RDGs. We need people who are willing to listen and discern people’s calling. Deep listening acts as a mirror to help people see themselves and one of the greatest gifts you can give.

The Pastoral Care Committee at St. Patrick’s is is all about tending to our “flock”! We are here to serve the various needs of our parishioners. Some of our services include providing Eucharistic Visits, phone visits, arranging rides to church or appointments, Special Prayers by the Daughters of the King, grief support, memorials, counseling, and home visits, just to name a few! IMPORTANT CHANGE

F.I.S.H’s current twice-a-month family distribution system is neither financially nor physically sustainable. Due to a dramatic increase in demand, our volunteers are overwhelmed, and we are dealing with an extreme decrease in donations. For these reasons, F.I.S.H. has reverted to a once-a-month policy as of January 01, 2024. This means that our clients will be able to receive 2 bags of groceries, ONCE a month.

ln 2023 F.I.S.H. served an average of 4,976 people per month, and historically approximately 35% of those helped are children. The number of people asking for assistance from FISH has increased dramatically since 2022. F.I.S.H is currently open five days per week to offer food to people in need - including seniors, homeless, unemployed, low-income, disabled, and more...Your donations feed many.

Our friends at F.I.S.H. of Santa Rosa would like our help with peanut butter donations! If you would like to bring in jars of peanut butter to help fulfill their needs to keep serving those in need. You can also bring canned soup and other food non-perishable items. Peanut butter is their greatest need at this time. You are welcome to bring other canned food and baby diapers!
