Election Updates

District property owners, please keep an eye out for your ballot for the upcoming GBD election! Our directors are crucial to the success of the Green Benefit District and our mission - we are so fortunate to have an incredible slate of candidates willing to give their time, energy and expertise to help improve Dogpatch and NW Potrero Hill and support our community. Voting is the easiest way you can support our district, property owners should receive mailed instructions and candidate information by early March. More information about the election process is on the GBD website

Celebrate with the GBD

We’re hosting our Annual Stakeholders & Friends Party on March 14 at the historic Bayview Boat Club  from 5:30 - 8:30 PM. This is a wonderful opportunity to meet and mingle with the candidates for the GBD Board of Directors, our current Board, neighbors and other community stakeholders. Visit GreenBenefit.org to RSVP, attendance is free with sign up. We look forward to celebrating with you!

Special Native Plants Events

On March 10, Eddie Bartley (President, Yerba Buena California Native Plant Society) and Noreen Weeden (Golden Gate Bird Alliance) will lead a conversation about the connection between birds and the native plants in the Vermont Greenway & Eco-Patch. This will be a great educational opportunity and a chance to visit one of the GBDs newest (and still in-progress) greenspaces. Click here if interested.

In April and May, the 20th Anniversary of Bringing Back the Natives Garden Tour and Green Home Features Showcase invites you to see how sixty of your neighbors greened their gardens with California native plants, and learn how they have electrified their homes. There are four days for the tours - all are free and require registration. Learn more about the tours and register here.

Minnesota Streetscape Project

The first phase of construction for the Minnesota Streetscape Improvements Project began between 24th and 25th Streets with the aim to improve roadway, drainage, underground utilities and streetlights on Minnesota Street. Please note that there will not be work within the Minnesota Street Grove at this time.

Throughout this project, local access to the area will be maintained for both pedestrians and vehicles, however some slight delays can be expected during certain scopes of work. Work is subject to change in the case of inclement weather, unexpected field conditions or equipment issues.

For more information, please visit www.sfpublicworks.org/minnesota-streetscape.

Esprit Updates

We’re all very excited and eager for the upcoming reopening of Esprit Park this summer. Here are some notable updates from our friends at Rec and Park:

  • Completion of the storm drain system was delayed pending the need to switch catch basin details due to something unanticipated that DBI flagged. Rec & Park have provided direction from civil engineer and this work can now be completed
  • The contractor is back on site and working to wrap up granite wall installation and, weather permitting, to install the sewer line vent pipe (This is PUC-funded infrastructure that runs underneath the corner of the park)
  • The two drinking fountains / water bottle fillers that will be installed as part of the renovation have been delivered to the contractor
  • All but one tree have been delivered to the site. Rec & Park are currently reviewing the submittal for the remainder of plants
  • The Rec & Park Structural Maintenance Yard is wrapping up refurbishment of the “park ID sign”, which is the large green placard mounted on tall green pole, for reinstallation on site closer to re-opening

Rec & Park posts construction updates to the project page of their website monthly. You can also sign up at bit.ly/espritparkproject for automatic email notifications when updates are posted.

Please feel free to reach out to project manager, Melinda Sullivan, with any additional questions, concerns, or suggestions.
