The Hudson River Valley Institute is excited to invite you to a special program of the Cunneen-Hackett Lecture Series in Hudson River Valley History, which will be held as both an in-person AND virtual event. The program “Living Together: 20th Century Experimental Art Communities in the Hudson River Valley" will be a panel discussion on Wednesday, March 27, at 5 p.m. The event will take place in Room 2023 of the Hancock Center at Marist College and will be live on Zoom. Pre-registration is required for in-person AND virtual attendees.

The topics and presenters will be: 

The Woodstock Art Colony, Karen E. Quinn, Senior Historian/Curator of Art and Culture at the New York State Museum.
 
Elverhoj: The Arts and Crafts Colony at Milton-on-Hudson, William B. Rhoads, Professor Emeritus of Art History at the State University of New York at New Paltz.
 
The Women of Elverhoj: The Scott Sisters and Beyond, Leslie Melvin, academic technologist at Bard College and a specialist in image, object, genealogical, and historic house research.
 
USCO: We Are All One, A Meditation on Technology, Mysticism, and the Creation of a Psychedelic Aesthetic, Paige Rozanski, curatorial associate in the Department of Modern and Contemporary Art at the National Gallery of Art in Washington, DC.

"The Communication of Experience Is Art:" The Millbrook Commune and the Psychedelic Style, Devin Lander, New York State Historian and Head of Museum Chartering for New York State.
 
The Charlotte Cunneen-Hackett Lecture Series was established in 2001 to advance appreciation of the rich heritage of the Hudson River Valley and to promote the history of the region.


The Hudson River Valley Institute (HRVI) is a Center of Excellence at Marist College that studies and promotes the history of the Hudson River Valley. The Institute provides information about the region’s culture, economy, environment, and educational resources through www.hudsonrivervalley.org, public programming, and The Hudson River Valley Review. This biannual peer-reviewed journal covers all aspects of regional history. The Hudson River Valley Institute is supported by a major grant from the National Endowment for the Humanities.
