The quickest way to move from inaction to ACTION is the following:
Remind yourself you are not broken. This is NORMAL. You’re wanting to do something new, and your brain is simply wanting to keep you safe.
Take pressure off of yourself to be perfect
Don’t compare - especially when you’re comparing your beginning to someone else's middle, or end. NOT helpful
Ask yourself the following questions:
What is ONE thing I can just get started with today?
What feels easy?
What on that list above, feels simple and doable to you?
Pick one of those things and get really good at it.
Remind yourself WHY you want to lose weight in the first place. And keep reminding yourself, especially when you’re tempted to slide back into old patterns.
When establishing any goal it’s essential to focus on one mini goal at a time, and the BIG goal will take care of itself.
For example when I began evaluating my day, I focused ONLY on writing down what I actually ate. I did NOT worry about planning perfectly, at first. I JUST created a HABIT of writing down what food I actually ate each day, (without judgement)
So if it was McDonalds, fries, ice cream, Cheetos, cheese and crackers, cliff bar…. whatever…. it all went on the list.
For those of you who are wanting to lose weight, or have any goal you want to achieve, but are having a hard time getting started,
I get it… I’ve been there.
I’m in it right now, BIG TIME as I’m working on creating a sustainable coaching business.
I have all kinds of doubts. No proof that I’ll be successful.
…so I’m reminding myself this is normal.
…I’m dialing into my “why” each day.
My reason for creating this business is because I want all women to understand that they have the capacity to achieve their weight loss goals with ease, regardless of their age, or how many times they’ve tried to lose weight and failed in the past.
DECIDE where you want to begin, and just get started. That’s the quickest way out of confusion.
Whether it’s losing weight, decreasing your debt, or starting a business.
Pick ONE thing that feels doable, and get to work. Once you’ve gotten good at the ONE thing, then just DECIDE your next step and layer that one on.
That’s the process I used over 5 years ago to begin losing 80 pounds.
I started with one thing, and then noticed the needle starting to move a little.
That created momentum, so I was willing to layer in the next step.
Just like a snowball rolling down a hill, it started to gain momentum and I was able to have the motivation to keep going during the difficult times.
Nothing seemed too hard or out of reach as I simply kept adding on increasing small improvements over time to achieve my goals.
I had some incredible help along the way. Some of my favorite books about this topic are..
Atomic Habits, James Clear
The power of Habit, Charles Duhigg
The Compound Effect, Darren Hardy
Finish, Jon Acuff
