Don’t forget that UOT’s industry website offers a wealth of data resources. These include economic data, lodging (including short-term rentals), tourism tax revenue, international spending and visits, national and state park visitation, and airport visitation. Additionally, partners can access reports on resident sentiment, visitor profiles, county profiles, and the 2024 State of Utah’s Travel and Tourism Industry Report prepared by Jennifer Leaver from the Kem C. Gardner Policy Institute.

EDA ARPA Destination Development Grant Status

Congratulations to the Round 1 recipients of the EDA ARPA Destination Development Grant: City of Green River, Juab & Millard County, Ogden-Weber CVB (Visit Ogden), and Tremonton City.  Round 2 closed with 29 applications that are in final review by the EDA.

Legislative Highlights

In the 2024 Legislative session, two bills were passed that will affect film production in Utah. The Rural Film Incentive Program will continue providing $12 Million per fiscal year towards a 25% post-performance incentive that is available to productions that shoot at least 75% of their production days in Utah’s rural counties. Additionally, Utah Motion Picture Incentives will now be approved by the Utah Office of Tourism Board starting May 1, 2024, instead of the Governor’s Office of Economic Opportunity (GOEO) Board.

The Utah Office of Tourism has launched its “In Love. In Utah.” contest. Now through April 15, the state invites all individuals who have visited, or those aspiring to visit, to share their Utah love story for a chance to win a Utah travel prize package, including 3 nights of lodging and roundtrip flights on Delta Airlines.
