Browser Pop-Ups Lead to Phone Scams
Berkeley Lab Cyber Security wants to make you aware of an ongoing attack using fake pop-up windows. This method has been observed several times at the Lab in the last few months. The pop-ups appear to be from Microsoft or an antivirus program attempting to assist you but are in fact an entry point for sophisticated phone scams.

Gemini AI Model
Gemini, formerly known as Bard, is a generative artificial intelligence chatbot developed by Google. Generally available to everyone at no cost, you can try chatting with Gemini today to get help with writing, planning, learning, and more.
To integrate Gemini into apps like Docs, Sheets, and Slides, you need a paid subscription to Gemini for Google Workspace, previously Duet AI. Gemini for Google Workspace licenses are offered as a recharge service per individual and can be requested by sending an email to help@lbl.gov.

Update Legacy LastPass App for Mac Desktops
Starting on March 31, 2024, LastPass will no longer support their legacy application for Mac desktops. Users who downloaded the Mac desktop app directly from the LastPass site or downloads prior to June 2023 are impacted. Take action before the deadline to avoid disruptions to service. Note: The LastPass browser extension is not affected.

Dr. Lauren F. Klein is a Winship Distinguished Research Professor and Associate Professor in the departments of Quantitative Theory & Methods and English at Emory University, where she also directs the Digital Humanities Lab. Her book Data Feminism (MIT Press, 2020), co-authored with Catherine D’Ignazio, established a set of seven principles for doing more just and equitable data science that was informed by intersectional feminist thought. This talk will summarize the principles and cover how they can be applied to the current conversation and technological landscape around AI, its present harms, and future possibilities.
