ANNOUNCEMENTS
 EVENTS FOR SCOUTS
KLONDIKE CLEAN UP!

Scouters and Scouts of the district please come out and join the members of
Sheshequin Buckskinners Club
89 Marsh Hill Rd. Trout Run, Pa. 17771
on Saturday March 9th @ 8:30 am for their club workday to help clean up and make spring repairs to the grounds.
This service project is a "thank you" to the Club for providing what they do for us to hold our District Klondike Camporee each year and to help repair the grounds after continuous pouring rain that everyone had to exit the Camporee in on Sunday morning.
Please wear proper attire for outdoor labor, working glove, shovels, and rakes if you have them available to you.
It's Pinewood Derby Season!  There have been many awesome pinewood derby cars and smiling Scout faces posted and the excitement is building!

The Bald Eagle District Pinewood Derby will be March 9, 2024.  Race times are as follows and racers are asked to arrive at least 15 minutes prior to their race time to complete the check in process:
Lions: 10 am
Tigers: 11 am
Wolves: 12 pm
Bears: 1 pm
Webelos: 2 pm
Arrow of Lights: 3 pm

Each unit can register their top three racers in each den.
Registration will close March 1, 2024, so make sure you are getting those racers registered after your Pack Derby.

The Spikes are still working on the registration for this.  A link will be coming soon for you to register for this event!

Complete the online course, print your certificate, and bring it with you to the Prep Meeting!

This training introduces Cub Scout leaders (and parents!) to the skills needed to plan and conduct Pack level outdoor activities, particularly camping! Each Pack should have more than one BALOO trained Scouter! This is an OUTDOOR, OVERNIGHT TRAINING, check weather reports, plan and dress accordingly, and read “WHAT TO BRING” on the registration flyer that is downloadable from this site.  To help keep the cost reduced, please bring something to share for cracker barrel snack Friday night and a bag lunch for Saturday. You and your den will plan and prepare your own breakfast; dinner will be provided for Saturday night!

Introduction to Outdoor Leader Skills is the required outdoor training for all Scoutmasters and Assistant Scoutmasters to complete the requirements of Basic Training. The skills taught are based on the outdoor skills found in The Scouts BSA Handbook. The course is also ideal for Venturing leaders because it focuses on skills that build confidence and competence in leaders conducting outdoor camping experiences. Youth who will be 18 years old soon should be trained if they are planning to be an assistant for a troop. (Youth Protection Guidelines will be followed.)

This fun-filled, hands-on weekend training event is designed to provide Scoutmasters, Assistant Scoutmasters, WEBELOS Leaders, Troop Committee members and other new scout leaders with the basic camp skills required for Tenderfoot through First Class ranks. Outdoor skills are critical to the success of the Scouting program, and Introduction to Outdoor Leader Skills will provide leaders with the basic outdoor skills information needed to start a program right.

  • You must attend both the Tuesday evening and the Fri/Sat weekend trainings to complete this course.
  • Additional information on the weekend session will be provided at the Tuesday, March 26 training.
  • Since this is a practical application of outdoor skills, the weekend portion of the course will be held rain or shine.
  • You will need a completed copy of the BSA’s Annual Health and Medical Record form at check-in Friday night at Camp Karoondinha. Only parts A & B need to be filled out by you, no physical exam is required.

Completion of Youth Protection, Scoutmaster/Assistant Scoutmaster Specifics and Introduction to Outdoor Leader Skills courses are all required to be considered TRAINED by the BSA for the Scoutmaster/Assistant SM position. You must be fully trained for your registered position in Susquehanna Council.

PREP MEETING: March 26, 6-9 p.m. (Location: Farragut United Methodist Church, 61 PA-864, Montoursville, PA 17754)

Contact Dan Williams @ DJWilliams19@Gmail.com.
Roundtable is for Fun and Know How.  Everyone is invited to come have fun, learn about upcoming events, and interact with other scouters to learn different ways to do things.  Learn crucial knowledge and make lasting friendships with other scouters from the District.
Join us for our next Roundtable on March 13th at 1400 Market Street in Williamsport and see for yourself.
Individual Scouts are welcome to attend any and all District or Council events.  If your unit leaders are unable to attend, individual scouts are still able and encouraged to attend.  We are looking for Scouters who are willing to attend camp and other events as provisional leaders for these scouts.  If there are no provisional leaders available, scouts will be paired with another unit and their leaders to ensure two-deep leadership.
