Makenah earned her 4th NIETOC Nationals bid in Informative. Keertana earned her 7th NIETOC bid in Informative and still has not gone a single week without earning one in that category! Nitya and Joy earned their second NIETOC bid in Duo meaning they are now officially qualified for the NIETOC national tournament!!! Including Solanite Ketema, this means the speech team now has 5 NIETOC national qualifiers with 4 more weeks for other students to qualify. Way to go RHS Speech!
5 students from the RHS Speech Team met the requirements this year to attend and compete at the Harvard National Speech and Debate Tournament in Cambridge Massachusetts at Harvard University. This is one of the largest and most competitive normal season tournaments that exists in the US with nearly 5000 people competing in a variety of speaking and acting categories. Makenah Zappia earned her way into the Quarterfinal round of Informative Speaking, placing in the top 24 out of 180 competitors in the category. Makenah also compete in Original Oratory and made it into the Octofinal round, placing in the top 48 out of 330 competitors. In both categories, she was also only 1 rank away from making it into the next round. We're only halfway through the speech season at this point as well! I can't wait to see what else this incredible group of students is able to accomplish!
Congratulation to the Rosemount Knowledge Bowl Team for advancing to the NorthLand Regional Meet by finishing strong at the subRegional at Prior Lake on February 13. The team closed with a great final round and had to overcome a judges protest to qualify. The team members of Jordan Eide, Ryan Etheridge, Ryan Erzar, Miriam Dalum, and Robbie Sell will compete to qualify for Nationals on Thursday February 29 at North St. Paul High School. Wish them good luck!
RHS Woodworking Club is beginning on Tuesday February 13th with an informational meeting and discussion about the club, then we will meet every Tuesday at 2:35pm in room 105 - Wood Shop
HIGH SCHOOL RUGBY: Rugby registration is open for our Girls and Boys high school teams. No experience is necessary. In rugby, everybody plays, everybody carries the ball, and everybody tackles. Rugby suits all body shapes and sizes, and teaches explosiveness, decision-making, and agility. Rugby teaches safe and highly effective tackling, which makes it a perfect off-season sport for HS football players. As a school club sport, Varsity players may earn their letter.
Practice begins on March 2nd, which doubles as our "TRY RUGBY" day for potential new players who want to learn more before signing up. The season runs through the end of the school year. More information, including registration links, may be found at
