FLORIDA VISIT

ANOTHER MEETING OF THE ASSOCIATION’S DEPARTMENT LEADERS

The meeting took place on January 16 at the Association’s office. The Association’s president, I. Mileyev, taught about how to develop ministry plans, how to make joint decisions, and how leaders should react to criticism of other members of the team. Then the department leaders shared about their ministry in December, January, and part of February. The meeting was concluded by praying for the needs expressed by those who were there.

NEWS FROM THE EDUCATION MINISTRY

What used to be an unattainable dream of many pastors has become a real possibility for the Slavic Christians in the USA. And that is receiving theological training basically without leaving the home. The Association’s education department continues to train everyone who wishes to earn an AA Degree in Russian and English. For those who would like to receive a master's degree, they also have that opportunity as well. More details… (in Russian only).

MINISTRY OF THE YOUTH DEPARTMENT

The Association’s youth ministry is called “United” for a reason. This is a movement of young men and women who are united with a desire to attain to the higher calling in Christ. On January 19-21, they had their team’s retreat, and on February 10, there was a leadership meeting where they made up the plan of events for this year. More details… (in Russian only).

HOW TO LEAD A CHILD TO CHRIST?

On February 3, First Slavic Baptist Church had a Sunday School teachers’ conference. Seventy teachers and directors of Sunday Schools benefited from hearing the seminars on various methods of working with children and teens and learned how to preach the Gospel to them. One of the most interesting methods is “The Wordless Book.” Nadezhda Ivantsova, who has a lot of experience working with children, illustrated this method. More details… (in Russian only).

“HOUSE OF UNITY” CONFERENCE AT BRYTE

On January 13, Bryte church had a family conference, “House of Unity.” Over 150 people attended the conference. There were married couples, single parents, and even youth. Yuriy and Tatyana Sokolovskiy were the conference’s speakers. More details… (in Russian only).

NEW MINISTRY FOR IMMIGRANTS IN SACRAMENTO

On January 27, Second Slavic Church in Sacramento had an event for immigrants. They addressed issues such as receiving government aid, information about resources, and English classes. Over 60 people attended this event. The church’s pastor, Sergey Solonenko, personally attended this event and shared a brief word of exhortation addressed to the immigrants in attendance. I CHOOSE JESUS!

It is an unforgettable experience when a person expresses their desire to give their life to God and dedicate themselves to following Him and to be baptized! On Sunday, February 4, The Cornerstone Church had a baptism service for 12 people from among the new immigrants. They started to learn about faith, Christ, and the Bible only after arriving to the U.S. They decided to receive Jesus, and dedicated their lives to following Him! More details…

HEALTHY FAMILIES MAKE A HEALTHY CHURCHЬ

A team from family ministry in The Revival Church in Vancouver, WA has a regular outreach for couples. Every meeting takes place in a friendly and warm environment with a great reception and parting gifts. However, the main emphasis is the practical edification of married couples. On February 17, 64 couples came to one of these gatherings. More details… (in Russian only).

FATHERS AND SONS

On January 25-28 Grace Family Church had their “Fathers and Sons” retreat, which took place in Paradise. This was an exceptionally beautiful forest, away from the busy city life. About 200 people from at least three generations were able to come. This is a fairly new ministry, but it continues to grow, and is a source of great blessing for many families. Fathers and Sons – What a Wonderful Sight!

WOULD YOU LIKE TO BE RIGHT OR BE HAPPY?

On January 27, New Hope Church had a family evening with the participation of Evgeniy Dushankov, who is an author, evangelist, and teacher. About 80 people from different churches were able to attend. Many of them are recent immigrants to the U.S. More details… (in Russian only).

LEADERS' RETREAT

In early February, The Good News Church in Tacoma had an annual retreat for pastors, those who are in leadership roles, and those who are active in church life. This year over 80 people came to the retreat, where they spent over two days in the majestic scenery of Washington. They had an evaluation of the previous year, as well as developed goals for this year. More details… (in Russian only).

FAMILY EVENING AT THE ROCKLAND BAPTIST CHURCH

On February 17, Rockland Baptist Church had a family evening with a theme of "Relationship in a Hut." The guests had an opportunity to take pictures at a photo booth, and were greeted at the door with raffle tickets for a game with prizes that kept everyone engaged throughout the whole evening. In addition, everyone was treated to comfortable dinner tables and live worship music. The speaker of the evening was Yan Kislitsa, who preached on "The Art of Expressing Love."  More details… (in Russian only).

WE ARE INTRODUCING TO YOU THE LIGHT OF THE WORD CHURCH

During the 85th Association’s convention, Light of the Word church in West Sacramento was accepted into its ranks. In order to show the character, strength, and power of Christ in practical life, every church member needs an in-depth study of the Bible, which is, according to the head pastor, Roman Vasilyevich Palnikov, the main focus of this church. MINISTRY OF THE LOCAL OUTREACH

Vasiliy Khripunov is a pastor-evangelist, and assistant of the Missionary Department leader of the local outreach ministry. In his radio interview, he shared about the ministry of the local outreach, as well as about the training that he and his team are making available for everyone who wishes to get trained in Evangelism. FEBRUARY NEWS UPDATE FROM TORREVIEJA

In the previous newsletter, the pastor of The Light of Life Church in Torrevieja (Alicante), Spain, Viktor Kovba, came to us with a need to pray for their pressing need. The church was about to be forced to move outside the city due to not having a license for gatherings over 30 people. At that time, the license’s cost was unattainable for the church. However, the Lord answered prayers through certain contributions and the rest of the cost they borrowed, and by doing so, they were able to take care of the licensing problem within the time requirement. Praise God for that! Their ministry continues. More details… (in Russian only.)

USEFUL SEMINARS

Pastor and professor at the Theological University of Moldova, A. Gyrbu, was invited by The Spring of Life Church in Mukilteo, WA to teach a few seminars. These seminars could be beneficial to many church members of other churches as well, especially those who have a mixture of Baptist, Pentecostal, and Charismatic teachings. The seminars can be found here:  

DEPRESSION IN A CHRISTIAN?

Can depression, as it is defined by the official medical definition - “mental disorder” - be applied to a Christian? This is a debatable issue which is discussed in Christian circles. President of The International Counseling Institute “Coram Deo”, Aleksey Tolochants, shared his understanding of this problem from his understanding of the Scriptures. ACCOUNTABILITY ISSUES – CHECK YOURSELF!

Very often, as we hear the truth, we agree with it on the surface level, but do not allow it to penetrate our hearts. Many people admit that when they hear practical issues addressed from the pulpit, it allows them to analyze their personal life. This is why the pastor of the Grace Family Church conducted a survey which captured various aspects of a Christian life. More details… (in Russian only).

ONE MORE MODULE IS OVER

About fifty students, pastors, and regular church members from various churches completed the fifth module of the International Counseling Institute, “Coram Deo.” The theme of the module was: “The Problem of Addictions: Infatuation that controls one’s life.” F. NEWS FROM AROUND THE WORLD

“THEOLOGY OF NEEDS” – TRUTH OR HERESY?

The Resurrection Church in Minsk, Belarus had a conference that may be interesting to many others. “Christ and Needs” was the theme of the conference. It was dedicated to the discussion of the so-called popular movement of today, “Theology of Needs.” More details… (in Russian only).

14TH FORUM-SUMMIT OF THE ECB CHURCHES IN EUROPE

On February 6-9, The Coalition of Evangelical Churches of Europe had their 14th forum-summit for church pastors of the newly formed churches in Europe. Twenty two countries were represented in attendance, and the program had a lot of useful information that was a source of blessing for the missionaries and church pastors. In his radio interview, Ilya Danilyuk, who is the head of this Coalition of Evangelical Churches of Europe, talks more about it.
