Hi Sweet Friends,

In today's newsletter, I'm happy to share recipes for two types of bone broth that go beyond the chicken and beef bone broths that we usually have simmering in our traditional foods kitchen. If you haven't made fish bone broth or pork bone broth, now's the perfect time!

Also, you can read the latest installment of The Modern Pioneer Cookbook Lesson Experience that shows you how you can teach students in grades K-12 how to make bone broth. It's fun and easy to share your knowledge of traditional foods and give your children a love of good nutrition and lifelong skills in the kitchen.

In the Modern Pioneer Cookbook Lesson Experience series, Jamie O'Hara chronicles her children's traditional foods journey with The Modern Pioneer Cookbook Curriculum. (Remember, you can download this 250+ page curriculum for free to use with your children, grandchildren, or students in grades K-12.)

Plus, in today's newsletter, I talk with you about a few in-person events I'll be at this year. I hope to see you there!

Fish and Pork Bone Broth Recipes

If you're preparing a fish dinner this lenten season, don't throw your fish bones out. Instead, make a fish bone broth that is iodine-rich for good thyroid health, and you can have it ready in 45 minutes!

Or if you can get a hold of a few ham hocks, you can make an amazing pork bone broth in your slow cooker. This type of bone broth provides a nutritional powerhouse of collagen to nourish your skin, nails, hair, and gut health. Plus, this recipe makes excellent Ramen Broth too!

Thank you for Being a Sweet Friend

I've been getting back into the swing of things and just wrapped up filming a new recipe video for you that I'll share with you next week. (Be sure to subscribe to my YouTube channel and click on the notification bell so you'll be alerted when it's published.)

I've also been filling out my schedule with articles I'll be writing and events I'll be attending this year.

Lake Travis Homeschool Group

On February 21, the Lake Travis Community Library Homeschool group invited me to talk about my cookbook and the Modern Pioneer Cookbook Curriculum to teach kids in grades K-12 how to make and enjoy traditional foods.

If you're in the central Texas area, I invite you to join us for this event and meet other homeschoolers in the area. (In a previous video, I talked about my family's homeschooling journey.)

Modern Homesteading Conference

In my Mary's Nest 2024 Channel Update, I also mention that I'll be giving two presentations at the Modern Homesteading Conference on June 28 and 29.

During the conference, you'll also enjoy attending talks and learning from a variety of interesting speakers, including Sally Fallon with the Weston A Price Foundation. She's also the author of the Nourishing Traditions book that I'm sure is already part of your Traditional Foods Kitchen Library.

More Events in the Future

I will also be on a panel discussion at an upcoming conference to discuss how you can get started creating videos and how my YouTube channel reached a million subscribers and received the YouTube Gold Creator Award. I look forward to sharing more details with you in a future newsletter.

So whether you're in central Texas or as far away as Idaho, I hope we'll have the opportunity to meet in person. However, if you can't travel, I look forward to being part of your traditional foods kitchen virtually through my videos, website, or newsletter. 😊
Love and God Bless,
Mary
