Dear Readers,

As we navigate through the challenges and opportunities of our professional journey, the demands of our work can sometimes lead to diminished motivation. It is therefore crucial to take a moment to reflect, recharge, and renew our commitment to excellence.

Professional renewal isn't just about fixing what's broken; it's about continuously improving ourselves and our work. It's about staying ahead of the curve, adapting to changes, and innovating in our approaches. By embracing renewal, we foster a culture of continuous learning and growth. When each team member invests in their professional development and renewal, it enhances our collective capabilities and fosters a culture of collaboration.

We can share insights, learn from each other's experiences, and leverage diverse perspectives to tackle challenges more effectively as a team. Investing in our professional growth and renewal isn't just about benefiting the organisation; it's also about personal fulfilment and satisfaction. By honing our skills, pursuing our passions, and achieving new milestones, we enrich our own lives and find greater meaning in our work.

Let's seize every opportunity to invest in ourselves and each other, to emerge stronger, more inspired, and more resilient than ever before. Together, we can make our professional renewal journey a rewarding and transformative experience.

Warmest regards,

Julie, Micheline

Gathering evidence of learning through triangulation is essential to adapt teaching and learning strategies more effectively to students' needs. Professional Commitment in the Teaching Profession

By Dr. Jeff Keeling, Ed.D. in Educational Leadership

Historically speaking, the field of education has a tendency to be viewed by prospective teachers as a career choice that pays a respectable salary and comes with a built-in summer vacation. Additionally, some individuals may view teaching as an “easy” profession because they attended school and watched their own teachers in action. How difficult could such a career truly be?

Cultivating Motivation in Teaching: Strategies for Sustained Inspiration

Although February is the shortest month of the year, it often feels like the longest.  For some of you this marks the end of a semester and the beginning of the next. Whatever your schedule, the constant rush against time can sometimes dampen motivation. With so many variables in adult education, teachers might sometimes feel tired and less excited about their work. This piece explores these challenges and provides five strategies and relevant tools to reignite the motivational flame within our profession.

Visual Support Tools for Neurodiverse Adults

In our recent EMSB workshop, Jennifer Campbell (EMSB) and the RECIT shared practical tools like visual schedules, pictos, and social stories. The first presentation covered free, open-licensed tools for creating visuals, while the second focused on applying classroom resources. Pictos, short for pictograms, are visual symbols conveying information universally through simple images. Social stories use pictos and straightforward language for step-by-step guidance in social situations. Visual schedules, using objects, pictures, or words, provide a structured approach to events and transitions.

You can access the tools from the first presentation here. Please reach out to the RECIT team if you'd like a similar workshop at your board or centre.

Mindset

By Lucie Tremblay

This newsletter edition makes me reflect on questioning what I already know. In education, many researchers come up with yearly studies on various subjects such as; pedagogy, child development, didactic, digital tools, special needs, and neuroeducation. From a SEC point of view, when I think about professional renewal, my biggest concern is to ensure I share the latest data related to my field.
