I have recently been informed that Shawn Carey, Director of Operations for The Town of Blue Mountains, left his position on February 16 for an opportunity in the Niagara Region.
That is most unfortunate.
I have had the pleasure of working closely with Shawn and his team over the past two years, developing an Infrastructure Project Tracking Report that monitors activity, timelines and costs of our Infrastructure Development Initiatives.
I enjoyed working with Shawn as he brought a sound, fiscally responsible approach to his duties, instilling operation disciplines amongst his team.
Shawn’s leaving will be a major loss for TBM, and it is critical that his replacement proves equal to the task of replacing his capabilities.
As the search for a new permanent Director of Operations moves forward, Jeffrey Fletcher has agreed to take on the position as Acting Director of Operations until a permanent replacement is hired over the next three months.
With the 2024 TBM Budget expected to be finalized in early March, it is imperative that we continue the positive momentum of our Infrastructure Program. I intend to set up a session with Jeffrey to finalize status of all 2023 Projects and develop the template to report on all 2024 Infrastructure Projects once the Plan is approved by Council.
When the new Director of Operations is hired, which is targeted for late Spring, I will set up a meeting to introduce the BMRA and the work that we have undertaken with the Operations group.
We wish Shawn well in his new endeavours.
Thank you,
Scott Findlay
