Dear Parents,
We are currently in a very important time in the liturgical calendar, the Lenten season. As we each work to prepare ourselves for the Passion of Christ, let us remember that His true, unwavering love for us led Him to give His life for our salvation. During the Lenten Season, the Church, as a loving Mother, asks us to complete concrete tasks to draw our hearts closer to Jesus through prayer, fasting, and almsgiving.
This is a great opportunity to grow in love for Our Lord by making sacrifices, while at the same time helping others. It also shows the students that when any sacrifice is made for the love of the Lord, there is always fruit, whether we see it directly or not. “But when you give alms, do not let your left hand know what your right is doing so that your almsgiving may be secret and your Father who sees in secret will repay you.” (Matthew 6:3-4) To encourage the students to keep making sacrifices, let us not forget what Padre Pio said, “The small sacrifices made by little children will convert the world.”
At Assumption, we will host our annual Lenten Retreat Day this Friday, February 23rd. Students will participate in the Stations of the Cross, have an opportunity for Confession, and participate in prayer reflection time.Throughout the season, all students will attend Stations of the Cross on Fridays of Lent. We also await the performance of Living Stations by our 8th-grade class, on Tuesday, March 26th. All will be invited to attend this beautiful and moving performance.
God bless,
Maryann Jimenez
Staff Departures –
Lindsay Henry – Lindsay joined us last year when she moved from Gainesville even though she had planned to stay home with her little one. She has now decided that she will stay home next year, but she will remain an active ACS parent and we look forward to continuing our relationship with her family.
Gabie Treadwell – Gabie and her husband have been actively working on their cabin and property in North Carolina for the last several years and are ecstatic to be officially moving and be one step closer to retirement! Congrats Gabie!
Vikki Charboneau – Vikki has given many years to education, including the last 9 years here at Assumption. With her girls off to college soon, she will be seeking other opportunities, and we wish her all the love and blessings!
Kelly Branson – Kelly has also been at Assumption for the past 9 years and has decided to relocate to Savannah to be closer to family. We will miss her dedication to the middle school students and offer her many prayers on her new adventure!
“New” Staff –
I am excited to share that Tricia Gardner and Jennifer Churchill will be returning to Assumption! They have both had a wonderful year at Guardian, but after MUCH thought and prayer, have decided to return to Assumption. Tricia will take on the ESE position and Jennifer will become the technology teacher and roll back into the STREAM department. I know you will all be equally as excited to welcome them back as I am!
I will be posting jobs on the diocesan website shortly! Our openings will be 4th, MS Math, and ELA, and we are adding a FT guidance counselor for K-5th grades, so spread the word!
