Chief Sustainability Officer’s Clinical Fellow Scheme | Faculty of Medical Leadership and Management

We have been asked to share the information below about the Chief Sustainability Officer’s Clinical Fellow Scheme. In the information below it does mention ‘pharmacist’, but on perusing the supporting information, the opportunity is open to Pharmacy Technicians as it states, ‘Must have a primary professional qualification in medicine, nursing, midwifery, relevant allied health profession, dentistry, healthcare science, pharmacy’.

Chief Sustainability Officer’s Clinical Fellow Scheme

Who it's for

Recognising the unique contribution each clinical specialism can make in reaching net zero, the scheme is multi-professional and welcomes applications from allied health professionals, dentists, doctors in training [including public health registrars and SAS doctors], healthcare scientists, nurses, midwives and pharmacists from across England. It is aimed at aspiring future clinical leaders that have not held senior leadership roles previously.

The NHS equality, diversity and inclusion improvement plan highlights that diverse teams working in inclusive environments have a better experience at work and are more effective at their jobs. There is work to do if senior leadership in the NHS is to match the diversity of our wider workforce and the communities we serve. As a fellowship with the objective of developing current and future senior NHS leaders, we want to see an increase of successful applicants from groups underrepresented at those levels and welcome feedback about improving the accessibility of our recruitment process.

For full eligibility requirements, please read the scheme information pack. For information on other clinical fellow schemes in the FMLM portfolio, please visit this page of our website.

Reminder: Pharmacist Foundation Training Webinar: 7:30pm on 27th February

Lincolnshire ICB is providing a drop-in session, hosted by Community Pharmacy Lincolnshire and supported by colleagues from NHS Workforce, Training and Education (formerly Health Education England), for pharmacy contractors considering offering foundation training places next year.

The team will be on hand to answer questions and provide guidance on what this means, and next steps to get involved.

The drop-in session will be held online via Zoom, from 7:30 - 8:30pm on Tuesday 27th February, and can be accessed at

In case you missed it: Health and Social Care Select Committee Pharmacy Inquiry Community Pharmacy England gives verbal evidence and CPL written evidence

Community Pharmacy England has warned.that patients will continue to face problems accessing medicines unless Government both eases supply problems in the UK, and resolves the critical financial state of community pharmacies,

Janet Morrison, CEO, and Mike Dent, Director of Pharmacy Funding, both gave evidence to the Health and Social Care Select Committee on Monday 19th February.

They warned that pharmacies and patients are continuing to face the consequences of ongoing medicines supply issues, and these are combining with wider financial and operational pressures to leave community pharmacies battling for survival. Read more about this on Community Pharmacy England's website here.

Last year both Community Pharmacy England and Community Pharmacy Lincolnshire submitted full written evidence to the Pharmacy Inquiry - CPL's response can be found here.
