World Day of Prayer 2024
Friday 1 March; 10.30am at United Emmanuel Church

The theme of the service this year is from Ephesians 4: 1 – 6. “I beg you, bear with one another in love.” The service was written by a group of Palestinian Christian women before the current conflict and deals with their own personal experiences. Their hope was to encourage and inspire other women around the world to bear with one another in troubled times. As has often happened before, this year’s service has been overtaken by a tragic set of events.

We offer this service, believing that we are called to support the Christian women who created it and we invite all those taking part to listen prayerfully to their voices. We pray with world leaders, relief workers, medical teams and all those praying about the situation, for an end to the killing, and for the wisdom to build a lasting peace.

The local service here in Tunbridge Wells will be held at United Emmanuel Church, Mount Ephraim, TN4 8AE, on FRIDAY 1st March
Gathering at 10.00am for 10.30am start. It will be a more impromptu service than many, as we will not be meeting for rehearsals.
Please do come along, for a truly ecumenical service open to all

TW Youth for Christ

The Youthscape Essentials training course is designed for volunteer youth workers and those who might be interested but are not sure what it involves. The course covers skills you need on a Sunday morning and some you might need to run an evening youth club. It also updates about teenage life in 2024 and has a challenging section looking at our own discipleship.
There is no cost for the participants. Sign up at madapps.uk://twyouth4christ

TWYFC would like to invite you (Youth Leaders) and your youth group to the very first discipleship day called Deeper Youth. The idea of the day is that we have longer to explore one aspect of our faith than you do on a Sunday, and by bringing lots of different churches together, the young people can explore how different traditions worship and live their faith out.
The first one is on Saturday 23rd March from 10am - 4.30pm at Tunbridge Wells Baptist Church. We will be looking at 'how to be a disciple in 2024'. £5 on the door cash or card, includes a hot meal.
Sign up via madapps.uk/twyouth4christ/

The keynote speaker (hopefully someone from St Mellitus College) will kick off the day with some thoughts about what 'disciple' meant in Jesus' time and how we can be disciples of Jesus in 2024.
There will then be workshops for the young people to explore different ways to pray, read the bible and tips on how to be a Monday to Sunday Christian. Hopefully each young person will be able to take home some ideas to try out for themselves.
There will also be some chill out time with board games and cake, and some sung worship to finish the day.

Easter Meditation
An evening of reflective music and readings is being offered at the Salvation Army, Bayhall Road, Tunbridge Wells on Monday 25 March at 7.30pm.  The evening will be presented by the South London Fellowship Band and the Salvation Army Songsters.  You are invited to join in a most thought-provoking and blessed evening.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Good Friday Witness
Come join other local Churches for a Good Friday witness at the Clock Tower on Friday 29 March at 11.30am.  This short time together will include worship songs, prayers, Bible Reading and a short thought.

Needed - Accommodation needed for a young family of five
A young couple from Nepal have recently started attending Tonbridge Parish Church with their three children (a baby and two boys, 8 and 11) and are seeking accommodation in the Tonbridge area. I have spoken to them at length about their needs and their experience since arriving in the UK in January last year.
They need one large room or two small ones plus access to bathroom and kitchen and would be able to pay £600-£800 per month.
The youngest child, a 5-month-old baby, was born in the UK and has a heart condition which will require specialist treatment.  At birth, both mother and baby were in a critical condition and the mother tells me that she knows God intervened to save their lives.
The father has a student visa and is studying for an MSC in IT.  He hopes, on graduation, to obtain a Post Study Work Permit (2 years).  He is skilled in book-keeping and specialised construction tasks like fitting air conditioning units and plumbing.  The mother is an experienced beautician and has worked in the care sector.  They are currently living with relatives but need a more permanent address and have been asked to seek accommodation elsewhere.
Accommodation would provide stability and permanency for this young family and would allow them to plan for the family’s future: treatment for the baby, a school for the young boy and more permanent work for them both.
If you think you can help please contact the office at Tonbridge Parish Church - parishoffice@tonbridgeparishchurch.org.uk

I’m contacting organisations who may be interested in Tunbridge Wells Borough Council’s current young people’s art competition “Design Your Town”. We’re partnering with Trinity Theatre and offering a range of amazing prizes including tickets to shows and art supplies vouchers.

We are asking young residents to create an A4 design of their dream town centre.  The details of the project are visible here: twbc.online/designyourtown
