Gardner Auction Activities Announced!
One of the best things about our annual Gardner Auction fundraiser is that it comes with the chance to engage in a Gardner-style activity led by our talented staff! This year we have six exciting sessions planned:
- Paint and Sip with Millie and Cheris
- A Gardner take on the popular guided painting project, with wine and other beverages served to assist the creative process.
- Science is Magic! with Jared and Bebe
- Explore the magical things science can do, learn party tricks to impress your friends!
- Escape from Gardner with Greg and Sarah
- Our own Gardner Escape room, hosted by the teachers of our youngest and oldest students. Can you Escape?
- Huichol Seed Art with Maria and Devon
- Mexican Huichol art is traditionally done with seed beads and wax. We will be using colorful seeds and glue for an eco-friendly twist.
- Radial Pattern Painting with Joyce and Danelle
- A fun activity for reluctant artists. Study the Notre Dame Cathedral windows for inspiration, and create your own colorful patterns!
- Decorated Candles with Carli and Miranda
- Create a set of candles and holders from wood blocks, paint, and melted wax to decorate candles to match any theme!
Spaces are limited in each activity. Priority choice will be given to attendees who register by March 1st, so register today!

Art Auction Preview and Coffee Social
|
|
|
On Friday, March 1st, the Farmhouse will be transformed into an Art Gallery featuring the collaborative pieces our Gardner students have created for our Auction! Each homeroom has worked together with Art Teacher Millie to create a unique, one-of-a-kind work of art highlighting the thematic studies and lively spirit of each class. Join us after drop-off for a cup of coffee or tea, and special homemade art themed baked goods!
All showcased artwork will be auctioned off at our March 16th Gardner Auction, featuring a talented and entertaining live auctioneer. Funds raised will go directly to support Gardner's mission and vision, providing capital for classroom improvements, facilities and grounds projects, field trips and experiential learning opportunities, and growing our wonderful school. If you haven't yet purchased your tickets for our Auction, we still have tickets available online.

Program Spotlight
Tournament of Guilds
|
|
|
Last week, while our parents and homeroom teachers were busy holding conferences, our Specialists took the students through their own Tournament of Guilds, complete with the creation of Guild crests, personal shields, and a series of challenging Quests to keep all of our Guild Members busy and engaged. Thank you to the Specialists for designing such a fun, three-day event so our homeroom teachers could fully engage with parents!

Staff Pup Introduction
Maple Pickett
|
|
While Gardner doesn't have an official mascot, we are lucky enough to have Maple on campus from time to time! You may have seen her walking with her owner, our PE Specialist Peter Pickett, or heard our students calling out her name when they spot her. All the kids know Maple! She is a sweet, patient, gentle pup who loves to be around the kids, and she is always hopeful that one of them will drop something yummy when we are eating snacks or lunch outside!
Maple sometimes visits our classrooms with Peter for brief stays, but generally is found around campus or in the Great Room with Peter. She is cleared for DCYF presence, and is an all-around warm-hearted and friendly four-legged addition to our campus activities. If you see her, say, "Hi Maple!" and watch her tail wag!

Volunteers Needed!
Auction in Action
Our annual Gardner Auction is less than three weeks away and we're in full swing with our planning and preparations. It takes a Community to support a school, and we couldn't do what we do without each of our families and our community supporters. If you have time and enthusiasm, we would love your help with our auction logistics on Friday the 15th or Saturday the 16th. Sign up here for a time to volunteer!

Learning in Action
100th Day of School
|
|
Gardner students are fascinated by numbers, and it's a long-standing tradition to calculate and celebrate the 100th day of school. This year, we had some days of non-attendance due to snow and ice, so it took some extra careful counting and discussion to determine the day for the celebration. After consultation across classes, our date this year was February 22nd!
Loowit set up a 100 Day Museum, with lots of examples of 100s. Each Loowit student brought in 100 samples of something and then created a display for everyone to look at and get a feeling for what "100" really looks like. They invited other classes to come in and tour the museum. It was a great way for kids to connect to other grade levels and different classrooms, and a valuable visual tool for teaching the concept of 100 during this Cent-sational Celebration!
