We want to provide you with a brief update on recent developments at the Santa Barbara Public Library. Library Director, Jessica Cadiente and Library Services Manager, Molly Wetta have been placed on indefinite leave, and René Eyerly, the Assistant City Administrator, has been appointed as Acting Library Director.

Please be assured that despite changes in leadership, our outstandingSanta Barbara Public Library is open and commited to serving the Santa Barbara community. We are committed to transparency throughout this process and will keep you informed as the situation develops.
Library Operations Continue Uninterrupted:
The Library will maintain regular operations, ensuring that services, programs, and resources remain accessible to our community.
Events, workshops, and general services will proceed without interruption, thanks to dedicated Library staff.
Library Plaza Remains Our Top Priority:
The Library Plaza project is of utmost importance, and we are fully committed to its progress and success.
We are requesting that in Director Cadiente's absence a Library point person be assigned to the project to ensure we can complete the project without more unnecessary delays.
Your Continued Support Matters:
Your ongoing support for the Public Library is invaluable. The Library is a pillar of this community that has not stopped during fires, mudslides, and the pandemic. The critical Library services offered everyday are stellar and stand strong.
We appreciate your trust and encourage you to reach out with any questions or concerns.
The Santa Barbara Public Library and resilient team of librarians will prevail.
