DUT PROFESSOR KATLEHO MOLOI GRANTED CHARTERED ENGINEER STATUS BY THE INSTITUTE OF ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY IN THE UNITED KINGDOM

The Associate Professor and Head of Department: Electrical Power Engineering at the Durban University of Technology (DUT) Faculty of Engineering and the Built Environment, Professor Katleho Moloi, was recently granted the status of Chartered Engineer by the Institute of Engineering and Technology in the United Kingdom (UK). This internationally recognised accolade signifies Professor Moloi’s competence, expertise, and commitment to engineering excellence.

According to Professor Moloi who is involved in teaching, research, community engagement projects and academic citizenship, it was a tedious process to obtain the CEng status.

DUT HOSTS THE PROFESSORIAL INAUGURAL LECTURE OF PROFESSOR SHEENA KUMARI PILLAI

To celebrate Professor Sheena Kumari Pillai’s academic achievement and significant contributions to research, innovation and engagement, the Durban University of Technology (DUT) hosted her Professorial Inaugural Lecture titled: Decoding the DNA of Wastewater for a Sustainable Environment at the Coastlands Musgrave Hotel on Thursday, 07 March 2024.

The Programme Director was Mr Zwakele Ngubane, DUT’s Director of the Advancement and Alumni Relations unit, who applauded Prof Kumari Pillai for her dedication to research at the Institute for Water and Wastewater Technology (IWWT) at DUT. Her expertise lies in biological wastewater treatment, wastewater microbiome, emerging pathogens and contaminants in wastewater.

These values are underpinned by the principles of fairness, professionalism, commitment, compassion and excellence.
