You are invited to a backstage tour of the Fisher Center, Sosnoff Theater on Sunday, April 7, at 11:30 a.m. The event is limited to 40 members. Following the tour, members are invited to a reception at 12:30 p.m. with hors d’oeuvres and sparkling waters. A concert will begin at 2 p.m. with Leon Botstein conducting The Orchestra Now (TŌN).  

The program’s nature theme will open with the 1911 Egon Wellesz’s piece Vorfrühling (The Dawn of Spring), which combines Viennese musical tradition with French Expressionism. Beethoven’s Symphony No. 6, first performed in 1808, which highlights the composer’s love of nature, follows. Concluding the program is the iconic 1913 Stravinsky concert work The Rite of Spring, which caused a riot at the opening performance in Paris! The Bard College Conservatory Orchestra will join TŌN in this performance.
